WELCOME

Welcome Conference Organizers

A Message from the Facades+ Director Welcome to Facades+ Los Angeles! The Architect’s Newspaper is happy to return to LA for our fifth year. We are pleased to welcome new attendees and longtime supporters to the program’s dynamic dialogue. We strive to bring fresh and relevant programming to each city, and have enjoyed the loyalty of our “facade geeks” who attend every event and come from around the globe to attend Facades+. LA is a center of innovation across the AEC industry, from experiments with high-performing materials to resiliency strategies. Facades+ LA brings together top professionals from the worlds of design, fabrication, and construction to consider how high-performance envelopes contribute to LA’s distinctive character and meet the city’s growing needs. Thursday’s symposium features dynamic keynote addresses by world-class design innovators Fokke Moerel of MVRDV and Michel Rojkind. You’ll be treated to panel discussions on topics critical to LA’s future, ranging from reducing the carbon footprint through the building envelope, to high-density urban living. On Friday, we delve into handson labs and deep-dive workshops with top practitioners across the industry. We’d like to thank our conference Co-Chairs, Gensler LA’s Michael Volk and Olivier Sommerhalder, who helped curate this program of experts from a variety of fields. They’ve devoted countless hours to honing this program especially toward your interests. We invite you to connect with presenters and your peers during networking breaks. Please get to know our industry-leading sponsors in the Methods+Materials Gallery and learn how they shape the future of building-facade technology. Has Facades+ struck a chord with you? Have a look at our upcoming 2020 events held in cities across the country and, new this year and next, Toronto. We’ll finish out 2019 on December 6th in Seattle. Also, mark February 6th in your calendar for the inaugural LA edition of TECH+ Forum and Expo at The LINE Hotel, showcasing the future of technology in the AEC industry. You won’t want to miss it.
