WELCOME TO FACADES+ NYC
WELCOME
Welcome to Facades+ New York! The Architect’s Newspaper is nearing the end of our ninth year of the Facades+ conference program and after 18 months of disruptions, we are thrilled to welcome new attendees and longtime supporters to the program’s dynamic dialogue. We strive to bring fresh and relevant programming to each city, and have enjoyed the loyalty of our “facade geeks” who attend nearly every Facades+. New York is a center of innovation across the AEC industry, from experiments with high-performing materials to resiliency strategies. Facades+ New York brings together top professionals from the worlds of design, engineering, fabrication, and construction to consider how high-performance envelopes contribute to New York’ distinctive character and meet the city’s changing needs. Thursday’s symposium features keynote addresses by Kim Nielsen, Founder of 3XN plus exciting spotlights on Reiser Umemoto and Claire Weisz. You’ll be treated to panel discussions on topics ranging from high-performance retrofits to the latest innovations from NYC’s top design programs and firms. On Friday, the event continues online with deep-dive workshops with expert practitioners across the AEC industry. We’d like to thank our conference Co-Chair, John Cetra from CetraRuddy Architects, who has helped curate this program of design leaders from a variety of fields. We invite you to connect with presenters and your peers during networking breaks in the Methods+Materials Gallery. Please get to know these industry-leading sponsors in the Methods+Materials Gallery and learn how they shape the future of building-facade technologies. Has Facades+ struck a chord with you? Have a look at our upcoming 2021 events held in cities across the country. We’ll next be headed to Portland on September 15th and Washington DC on September 21st. Also, mark October 1st in your calendar for the 4th edition of TECH+ Expo, showcasing the future of technology in the AEC industry. You won’t want to miss it. We’ve also launched an online series of events such as TimberCon, Reuse + Renewal and more. We are eager to hear from you about how we might improve the Facades+ experience. Talk to us. And please spread the word—help us to continue to grow the Facades+ dialogue and community.
