WELCOME A Message from the Facades+ Director Welcome to Facades+ Miami. We are thrilled to kick off our 2017 Facades+ Conference series, returning to Miami amidst the South Florida building boom. We are proud to go into this sixth year as the premier conference on high-performance building envelopes.
Diana Darling The Architect’s Newspaper Conference Director
Miami’s AEC industry is hot, hot, hot! And the focus is not just on residential projects. The area is seeing an increase across many building types including offices, public buildings, infrastructure, malls and convention centers. The region’s academics, engineers, consultants, architects, and builders are experts on some of the toughest challenges that envelope designers and fabricators are likely to face.
William Menking The Architect’s Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Miami Co-Chair
New for Miami, we’ve added Lab and Dialog workshops on the second day of the conference. (Please see the Workshop agenda on page 9.) Both days are meant to introduce you to new ideas, provide you with information to hone your skills, and give you ample opportunity to network. Please be sure to engage with our Methods+Materials gallery exhibitors who are bringing new products and ideas directly to you. We appreciate their support which allows us to put on an event of this caliber.
Pat Bosch Perkins+Will Design Director + Principal Miami Co-Chair
We thank our conference chairs, Perkins+Will’s Pat Bosch and Angel Suarez, who have curated an outstanding program of notable practitioners from various sectors of the AEC industry to discuss current trends. We are confident today’s lectures and panels will inspire and create lively dialogue and spark ideas that you’ll take back into your own practice. But the conversations don’t stop in Miami. We’re poised for upcoming Facades+ events in cities across the U.S. Connect with Facades+ weekly newsletters and on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to stay up-to-date on conference locations and dates.
