WELCOME A MESSAGE FROM THE FACADES+ DIRECTOR Welcome to Facades+ NYC! The Architect’s Newspaper kicks off our sixth year of the Facades+ conference series, which began here in 2012 and has since touched down in Chicago, Dallas, L.A., Miami, Seattle, Boston, and other cities. We are pleased to welcome new attendees and longtime supporters to the program’s dynamic dialogue. We strive to bring fresh and relevant programming to each city, and have enjoyed the loyalty of our “facade geeks” who attend every event and come from around the globe to attend Facades+. New York is a center of innovation across the AEC industry, from experiments with new materials to resiliency strategies and smart city technologies. Facades+ NYC brings together top professionals from the worlds of design, fabrication, and construction to consider how high performance envelopes contribute to and are shaped by the Big Apple’s architectural priorities. Thursday’s symposium kicks off with a keynote address by Dominique Perrault and then you’ll be treated to panel discussions on topics ranging from cutting-edge podium design, the world’s tallest Passive House structure, and recent advances in glass and cladding technologies. On Friday, we delve into hands-on lab and deep-dive workshops with expert practitioners across the industry. We’d like to thank our conference co-chair, SOM’s Christoph Timm, who has helped curate a program of innovators from a variety of fields. We invite you to connect with presenters and your peers during networking breaks in the Methods+Materials Gallery. Please get to know these industry-leading sponsors in the Methods+Materials Gallery and learn how they shape the future of building facade technology.
