She has held numerous leadership roles including terms with the Seattle Design Review Board and the AIA Professional Practice Steering Committee, and has served on numerous AIA Awards juries. Martin is a LEED BD+C Accredited Professional and holds a MArch from the University of Pennsylvania.
ROBERT MILLER Principal | Bohlin Cywinski Jackson “Miller’s work ranges broadly in scale from private residences, including the modest Lightbox cabin in Washington, to complex commercial projects such as the Mengwu Town Center, China; Soma and Brio Towers, Bellevue, Washington; Ae’o Tower, Honolulu; and the Yesler Terrace Towers, Seattle. The most widely recognized is the Ballard Library and Neighborhood Service Center, Seattle, which was awarded a National Honor Award by the AIA and an AIA COTE Award for integrated environmental strategies.
Speakers PATRICIA SU-HSIA CHEN Senior Building Facade Manager, Su Development Chen has worked in the area of curtain wall design and management for over 28 years, including participating in the early facade system conceptual design, responsibility for full-size mock-up for air and water leakage testing and architectural visual review, system costing and VE, fabrication shop drawing, as well as leading onsite construction administration for exterior cladding.
STÉPHANE HOFFMAN VIce President & Senior Building Science Specialist, Morrison Hershfield Hoffman leads the Facade Engineering Group, focusing on conceptual design of cladding and glazing systems. With a Master’s in historic restoration that combines structural engineering, building science, and architecture, he brings a well-balanced approach to the conservation of the building envelope, blending scientific analysis with an understanding of aesthetic considerations.
TED HALL Founder & Creative Director, Spearhead With 25 years’ experience in mass timber construction, Hall is widely regarded as an industry leader in advanced wood design and manufacturing. Under his guidance, Spearhead has helped re-think the construction process through the application of integrated project delivery practices, coupled with state-of-the-art digital fabrication.

MICHAEL MAIESE Associate Principal, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Maiese leads the company’s internal research group focused on glass and glazing technologies. His experience with construction technologies, building systems, and construction delivery methods comes from a diverse range of projects ranging from adaptive reuse to high-end retail. He is particularly experienced with technically sophisticated buildings that integrate the client’s program into facilities that speak of the character of the institution. He has also presented papers internationally on decorative glazing technologies.

LISA RAMMIG Senior Associate, Eckersley O’Callaghan
SANJEEV TANKHA Principal, Walter P Moore
Rammig leads many of the facade group’s most challenging projects. She has the responsibility of directing EOC’s R&D efforts globally, focusing on innovative glass designs and technology that maintain EOC’s position as leaders in the field, but also identifying new fields of research. While involved in her own research projects, she focuses the team in developing their own areas of technical inquiry. Rammig is part of the Facade Research Group at TU Delft, pursuing her doctoral research on transparent glass connections. Since mid-2017 she is responsible for EOC’s San Francisco office.
Tankha leads the Enclosure Engineering practice. Balancing structure, sustainability, and comfort for users, his project experience includes: aviation, sports, civic, commercial, transportation, and hospitality. He has instructed at SciARC on integrated facades and at U.S.C’s School of Architecture on designing with glass. He is a registered architect in California as well as a LEED Accredited Professional. He holds a Master of Building Sciences from the U.S.C. School of Architecture and a BArch from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.
DANA REED Senior Associate, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Reed has devoted most of her career to planning, design, and construction of buildings for leading university and independent school clients, including the two most recent and modern college houses at the University of Pennsylvania, honoring Penn’s brick architectural legacy. Through her work with the Corning Museum of Glass and Apple Stores for Philadelphia and Georgetown, she has also developed an expertise in structural glass. Reed is graduate of the University of Virginia and Yale.
J-F ROBERT Principal, Blackcomb Facade Technology Robert is a Professional Engineer and owner of Blackcomb Façade Technology, the exclusive fabrication and installation partner for RAICO Bautechnik in the Pacific Northwest. He founded the company in 2010 with the vision of surrounding himself with a team of the best professionals in the industry. Previously, from 2006 to 2009, he was VP Operations for a commercial curtain wall contractor.
BRYCE TANNER Associate, Arup Over 22 years in the practice of structural engineering, Tanner has maintained a focus on the improvement of earthquake resilience in buildings new and old. One avenue of this pursuit has led to the design and peer review of tall buildings in high-seismic areas of the U.S. and Latin America. He was particularly excited to collaborate with ZGF on the complex and unique geometry of The Mark in Seattle.
HENRY ZIMMERMAN Project Manager, ZGF Architects Zimmerman has experience on a wide variety of projects in the public and private sectors, including: mixed-use, office, academic, and healthcare. His expertise is exemplified in his work with schematic design and development, client and consultant coordination, site administration, detailing, construction documents, material and color selection, and publication materials.
JOHN SU President, Su Development Since starting Su Development, a real estate company in the Puget Sound area, in 1981, Su has, with 70-plus dedicated team members, overseen development and construction of over 50 apartment buildings in the Seattle area, including six high-rise apartment towers in Downtown Bellevue. ROBIN BARTELMAN Sherwin Williams Bartelman worked in commercial architecture prior to entering the coatings world and now helps architects with fluoropolymer solutions for commercial projects through specifications assistance, color matching, and product sampling. MICHAEL ONDRUS Eastman As Architectural Market Manager, Advanced Interlayers for Laminated Glass in the Americas, Ondrus works with architects, specifiers, engineers, consultants, and designers as well as laminating customers, providing advanced yet practical interlayer solutions for laminated glass that meet project-specific performance and aesthetic needs for exterior and interior applications. RON DUNHAM President, Herzog Glass
ISAAC CAMPBELL Co-Founder, Office 52 Architecture Campbell has 28 years’ experience leading, designing, and managing award-winning projects. Previously, he was a design team leader in the studio of AIA Gold Medal winner Cesar Pelli, FAIA. He has designed numerous largescale projects including: the award-winning Stanford University Science and Engineering Quad and the Knight Management Center for Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, a LEED Platinum-certified project. He has lectured and been a guest critic for architecture design programs across the country and abroad.
SCOTT DAVIDSON Product Manager, Robert McNeel and Associates Recently, Robert McNeel and Associates has been introducing a series of new development tools and open source projects to expand where Rhino geometry can be used both inside and outside Rhino. Davidson will explain the current and future strategy of these tools and some of the fun and interesting open-source experiments being worked on.
Dunham has spent all of his 35-year career as a journeyman glazier. Since becoming an estimator 11 years ago, he has taken on increasing responsibility, culminating four years ago with his present role as President of the Commercial Division. Dunham’s wealth of knowledge in all things glass, from installation to value engineering, marks him as the “go-to” for architects and engineers designing complex glass installations.
RICHARD GREEN Founding Principal, Green Facades Over nearly 30 years, Green has worked on cultural facilities on six continents, over 20 countries, including: the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center by Renzo Piano in Athens, Greece; the restoration of the Sydney Opera House; the Amazon Spheres with NBBJ; and the refurbishment of the Seattle Space Needle with Olson Kundig. Previously, he was Principal and the Global Technical Director for FRONT. An international expert in glass design, Green is the technical chair for the ASTM Structural Glass Committee, having also participated in the writing of the Australia Glass Standard (AS-1288) and the ASTM Window Glass Standard (E-1300). He currently represents the U.S. on ISO committees.

JEFFREY HUANG Associate Principal, Arup
BLAIR PAYSON Principal, Olson Kundig
Huang brings over 15 years’ experience in commercial and institutional work. He contributes as lead mechanical engineer and project manager to a number of Arup’s projects to mitigate the intersection of the indoor and outdoor environment. Huang has presented numerous times to the AIA’s Committee on the Environment, is currently on the ACEC NY energy code committee, and taught at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation and the Pratt Institute School of Architecture.
JOE KAISER President, Herzog Glass Kaiser has been an executive management professional for over 20 years, 15 of which have been spent in construction in various roles including: general contracting, real estate development, and, most recently, President of Herzog Glass. Often described as a “jack of all trades,” Kaiser’s knowledge covers a wide range of industries and topics.
MICHELLE LAFOE Co-Founder, Office 52 Architecture With over two decades’ design and fabrication/materials technology experience, LaFoe has practiced in the studio of Cesar Pelli, FAIA, and with the Charles Moore– founded firm Centerbrook Architects and Planners and Diana Balmori & Associates. She has a MArch from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Distinguished University Research Fellow in the History and Theory of Architecture and was a Fulbright-Hayes Scholar (Italy) and a grant recipient from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts.
Payson’s project work includes: the Century Project for the Space Needle, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center, and many others across North America. From large cultural projects to temporary design interventions, Payson distills large, complex projects into distinct culminating moments. He credits this appreciation of key design details to his formative years working under Renzo Piano in Paris.
DAVID SPERGAL 3D Printing Specialist, Microsol Resources Spergal works with architects and engineers in the areas of design visualization, reality capture, and 3D printing. His background is in product design, development, and manufacturing. Previously, he worked as the production manager at Doob3D, and before that as a product engineer at Solidoodle. Spergal received his Manufacturing Engineering degree from Boston University.
ROBERT WALLACE Superintendent, Herzog Glass Wallace leads projects from the earliest stages through to the end, taking on top-down roles such as sales and estimating, project engineering, site superintendent, and hands-on installation. He acknowledges the challenges associated with constructability, logistics, and schedules of modern day construction and faces them head on to deliver a quality product to the end user.
