About me One day coming out of kindergarten, I asked my parents who had the task of building houses. They told me that they were the architects and engineers to design projects and later the workers and masons built them. Fascinated by this new world discovered, my father took me into the Polytechnic School a building that seemed to me immense full of people, colors and knowledge. Since then, my dream has not changed. Enrolling in a scientific high school I could go deeper into the technical aspects and mathematical, not forgetting the history of art and architecture of which Italy is a remarkable example. I managed to pass the entrance test for engineering and architecture, I chose architecture because I wanted to maintain a closer relationship with the design, art and history. My third year at university I stayed, thanks to the Erasmus program, at Ensa in Toulouse.I chose France because here the approach to architecture is more artistic, attentive to the social characteristics and manual. These aspects are replaced at the Polytechnic University by logic, feasibility and advanced techniques. Combining these two approaches I could expand my cultural background adding some skills. Thanks to the well prepared professors I could appreciate all the shades of a complex and evolving discipline as the architecture. Due to my personality and my preparation I have no problem for team work. I love the exchange of ideas and synergy of the groups to reach a specific project. Individual work does not scare me although I am always open to receive external opinions and advices. I consider myself sociable and easily adaptable to the new contexts. I love to travel for leisure and deepen my knowledge. Spain, Portugal, France, England, Italy as well as New York, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman. to put myself in a different culture is every time interesting and challenging. In moments of spare time I like reading to escape for a while ‘to everyday life.

The project was designed INQUADRAMENTO TERRITORIALE
with two other architecture students. The atelier was focused on the banking of some buildings in a 1800 neighborhood in Turin. So the idea was SEZIONI TERRITORIALI EVOLUZIONE DEL PROGETTO to close the gaps that had been created over time into the urban fabric. The concept is to create an entire 4-storey building with a common staircase to access the houses on the roof which enjoy the view of the park and river.

Housing is accessed through the balcony, typical custom of the Turin houses in nineteenth century. In this way, even to the inhabitants of the ancient building it is possible to use the elevator. The staircase is glazed with a brise-soleil in wood that recalls the houses on the roof. The project involves five different housing typologies. From two room apartment up to a triplex able to accommodate a large family or someone in need of a lot of space. The roof gardens allow to create a small oasis of peace in a big city. The courtyard of the building has been redesigned to have a real Shared space organized that it can provide services. In the atelier we were very focused on the materials, the acoustic and thermal insulation and structure by choosing the concrete for the building and the wood for the houses. Each detail has been treated with the utmost care from the model of parapet to the internal staircase.

Architecture and urban project Library project and urban reamenagement of the Allés des promenades in Lisle-sur-Tarn CREATO CON LA VERSIONE DIDATTICA DI UN PRODOTTO AUTODESK
This project was developed with another architecture student in my third year spent entirely ENSA Toulouse. The purpose of the project was to create a media library for the small rural town of Lisle-sur-Tarn located halfway between Toulouse and Albi. Being a small village the media library should have included a polyvalent space suitable for various functions such as festivals and conferences. L.Poubelle5 m² Salle de repos 16 m² Toilettes 29m2

The plot chosen is located onto Allee des Promenades and the corner of the rue De la Gare. The volume of the project is very simple, with an east facade, the main one, which stands out and invites people to enter. The motive of brise-soleil created in metal bars it seems a tissue that reveals and conceals the interior.Inside, the building is divided into two floors, the ground floor where there is the whole media library and the administrative offices with warehouses and archives while at the first floor there is the multipurpose room with the possibility to use a small kitchen. The media library has a free plan from which some glass cubes emerge and enclose, separate the sections.Inside and outside we chose the concrete as material to give greater prominence to the content.

Architecture and urban project The project done during the atelier of third year had as objective not only the design of the library, but also the restoration of the Allée des Promenades on which the project faced. In our case, we wanted to keep all the existing trees but trying to create one more uniform tissue with a perpendicular pattern. In the east side of the multimedia library we have included one vegetable garden open to the public and especially to the children who can follow some activities. We decided to bring to light the small watercourse in order to create coherence between the “lavoirs” and our project. In the last part we decided to put some benches in order to allow people to spend some time in this peaceful place in the heart of the village. In front there is a parking that thanks to the perforated tiles makes possible the growth of the grass and does not create too much gap to the environment. For materials we decided for 4 main materials. A paved with two different sizes to mark the difference between the road and the sidewalk. The stabilisé combining various parts of our intervention and stoneware plates that constitute the entrance to the media library. There is therefore a balance between vegetables and minerals elements. Pavés 10x10 & 15x10 Stabilisé Herbe Dalles en grès

Architecture and urban project Thanks to the teachings of the third year of planning I could work in an environment which presented many difficulties. Lisle-sur-Tarn in fact is a village with a heterogeneous urban tissue. Rural areas alternate with pavillionaire. Inside the lots there are in many cases empty space that create a spread of the town with lack of services and decentralization. The idea town planning focused on the ZAC of the village. Creating a new centrality “green” open to all to mark the border between primary and trade routes with the agricultural belt in the South. To avoid an abrupt finish, a primary axis extends in this band, and through a new alignment of trees, this rural-urban transition is gentle.

TWO DEVELOPMENT CONCEPTS: - Create a new distribution within the rural lots with the establishment of new networks. Primary axes, wide enough to allow the crossing of cars, and allowing considerable space to pedestrians and secondary networks that provide access to all plots. - Work on the landscape of this urban expansion: desire revegetate the primary axes, creation point “green”, especially around a square, a new public space

3Ds and assonometries with SketchUP and AutoCAD During the second year I chose the Workshop on Asia and in particular on four architecturally meaningful cities in Asia and worldwide such as Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo. I chose the first of them because despite not being a capital city has a strategic role in China. The Workshop was held on several exercises to investigate further not only the culture and traditions of the country but also to understand the architectural choices. Every week the student was brought to discussion and critique with other students. Thanks to this course I could open my horizons and better understand the lifestyle and housing needs in Asia. The entire workshop was also done in English. Below are some work performed inspired by different styles of representation. A farm near the Gregotti’s project the Pujiang City. This representation takes inspiration from the book: Momoyo Kaijima, Junzo Kuroda, Yoshiharu Tsukamoto, Made in Tokyo, Tokyo 2001

#URBAN LIVING - VALERIA FORTINI ALESSIO GABBIO
Here the student had to “sell” an apartement on the studied building. My building was characterised by duplex apartements. In this case he objective was to draw a diagrammatic axonometric building and its context (about 500 meters to the side) to show the relationship of the building with its around. The building was in the Huolanxincun district. I choose this representation to indicate the repetition of the buildings similar to the Lego Forms
I chose to represent two apartments model like they do in real estate. Adding all the furniture buyers can better understand the volumes and surfaces of the floor plan.

3Ds and assonometries with SketchUP and AutoCAD Mandarin Palace complex
A ring road divides the neighborhood into the inner part and the outer one. Inside the road, every four to six houses with their spacious courtyards are designed as one island, surrounded by water and connected to the main road by a vehicular path. The houses are isolated from the noisy trafďŹ c by the water, kept in a very quiet and private space. The houses outside the ring road are in a relatively higher density but still have independent courtyards. The emphasis of the project is the privacy of each single house, so that there is no much space for public programs. Shanghai Mandarin Palace villa. Designed by Xunqi Yan. Reproduction in a modern key of some traditional elements. The villa is inserted in a group of similar private houses built up for the rich class.

During my years ofDstudy I was brought several times to make some realistic image of projects, preferred way compared to the scale models in some universities. C The first year I worked with the software Lumion for the project of a recreational and tourist center in Settimo Vittone, a small town located the foothills of the Alps in Piedmont. During the third year instead I learned the basics of Revit. With this software I redesigned the project of “rose home” in New South Wales in Australia realized by Ian Moore Architects A A1 02

Sketch These are some works made during my years of study. Some have been made to better explain the project other to represent the environment whereas others I made them for personal pleasure. I believe that the sketches can be a very personal way to show your ideas and your point of view. I like to represent principally the projects but I would like to better deepen my technique on other elements such as vegetation and materials which are used to better integrate in the sketches context.

Photography I always liked to photograph and, since childhood I had the opportunity to use a real camera when my friends and classmates were using disposable cameras. I have never followed courses of photography, I’m totally autodidact. Thanks to a course at the university I learned to use the software Photoshop which I use to edit my photos. On this page there are some of the photos taken in several years of my life that particularly inspire me. I love photographing nature and landscapes but also more urban and regular spaces especially architectural elements
