PREPARING YOUR CHILD FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL

HAND HYGIENE Practice often throughout the day. Teach them to sing their ABCs or have them count for at least 20 seconds ensuring they wash front, back, and in between their fingers.

CHANGE AEROSOLIZED MEDICATION Nebulizers & inhalers without a chamber cannot be administered in school. Speak with your child’s pediatrician to obtain the proper equipment and to update the Asthma Action Plan.

PRACTICE 6FT OF DISTANCE Measure the distance on the floor. Consider temporarily laying pieces of paper down for a visual.

UPDATE IMMUNIZATIONS/PHYSICAL Both are required to enroll for the school year. Contact your child’s pediatrician for an appointment. Immunizations can also be obtained at the Health Department.

PURCHASE REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE Students will need to bring one to school. Water fountains will not be in service. Label each water bottle with your child’s name.. Label each water

HEALTHY SNACKS Please send your child (Grades 1-12) to school each day with healthy snacks.

UPDATE EMERGENCY CONTACTS If your child presents with COVID-like symptoms, they will be placed in an isolation room and will need to be picked up immediately. Please ensure a contact can be reached at any given time.

STAY INFORMED Educate yourself from reliable sources such as the CDC, Mississippi Department of Health, and American Academy of Pediatrics.


COVID MITIGATION STRATEGIES ON CAMPUS St. Andrew’s is committed to the following COVID-19 mitigation strategies on campus: Health Screening • Daily temperature checks and health screenings of all people entering a St. Andrew’s campus • Staggered arrival and dismissal times for all divisions Face coverings when appropriate and as necessary • Educating students and employees on the use of face coverings • Clear face shields provided to all teachers for use during direct instruction Classes • Kindergarten – Grade 12 classes are socially distanced under hybrid learning • Limited class sizes; most classes will be under 20 people to a room • Promoting use of outdoor spaces for class or other activities, as much as possible, and as weather allows • Cohorting of students in Lower School • Full COVID-19 health safety training for all employees • Limited sharing of any supplies, and individual supplies provided, as feasible • Limited areas for gathering during transitions • No use of lockers for now to minimize gathering Nurse/Clinics • Two full time registered nurses on staff • One designated person as COVID-19 point of contact • Clinics on each campus outfitted with isolation areas Hygiene: • Touch free sanitizer dispensers in every classroom • Hand hygiene education provided to students and employees • Consistent signage on both campuses • Scheduled hand hygiene for most students, as feasible • Adequate supplies provided to all areas of school Cleaning: • Daily disinfecting of every classroom • Enhanced night cleaning of every space on each campus • Disinfectant and cleaner supplied to every teacher for use during the day • Athletic facilities included in cleaning plan

COVID MITIGATION STRATEGIES ON CAMPUS Health Monitoring • Monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19 in students. Students exhibiting any symptoms will be isolated, and parents will be contacted • Consulting with MSDH and members of our medical community for guidance • Contact tracing within the community for positive cases • Enforcing illness policies for students and employees Food Services • Flik food service will continue in a COVID appropriate manner, but no food service will be available on the north campus during hybrid plan • On the south campus, and during non-hybrid scenario on the north campus, lunch will be hosted with distancing efforts in place either in classrooms or on a staggered schedule to limit congestion and contact • No use of shared water fountains at this time; water provided to refill water bottles Gatherings and Visitors • Assemblies, Chapels, and other school gatherings will be virtual • All parent meetings will be virtual • Both campuses closed to visitors during the school day, and parents will only be allowed on campus when paying cash for student tuition or another expense • Pursuing virtual activities in lieu of field trips at this time Employees • Enhanced leave policy for employees • Substantial, approved list of substitute teachers • Employee meetings held virtually Communication • U pdates to community on COVID-19 measures will be communicated efficiently We will adapt new strategies as required by any local or state authorities, and in accordance with recommendations from our Mississippi Department of Health and the CDC. St. Andrew’s Continuity of Learning Plan describes mitigation areas and levels in different areas of campus activity. St. Andrew’s also acknowledges that our mitigation efforts can be strengthened with family support in efforts at home that include: • Monitoring for COVID signs and symptoms at home in all members of the household. Keep students at home when they exhibit any symptoms • Reporting to St. Andrew’s any positive COVID-19 cases within members of a household • Disclosure and self-quarantining when known exposure to COVID-19 has occurred • Adherence to our illness policies • Adherence to visitor policy

IN-PERSON LEARNING DAY: EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER 7:30 AM – ARRIVAL • Students will arrive using the Kennedy Hall carpool lane • Parents and students will need to remain in cars for health screening • Once screening is completed, students will get out of their cars and will enter their classrooms MORNING WORK • Students will be able to participate in their regular morning work, including centers CLASSES • Students in Kindergarten will be required to wear masks inside throughout their day whenever social distancing measures cannot be maintained • Students will be spread out throughout the room for instructional purposes • Additional cleaning and sanitization processes will be followed, including additional hand washing and use of hand sanitizer throughout the day • All co-curricular classes will occur in the students’ homeroom class or outside • Most student materials will be assigned to individual students, with sanitization protocols in place for common use materials RECESS • Recess will be limited to one to two homeroom classes per recess block • T he playground will be sanitized daily

LUNCH • Students will continue to have tea party (snack) and lunch in their classrooms or outside • There will be additional space between students at the table when eating • There will be no breakfast option for students BATHROOMS • Bathrooms will be kept to no more than two students at a time • All students will participate in additional handwashing education at the start of the school year WATER FOUNTAINS • Water fountains will be closed to students • All students should bring at least one filled and labeled water bottle each day • Bottle fillers will be available for students to refill their bottles as needed NAPTIME • Naptime will still occur for full-day students in Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 • Students are permitted to bring their own lovies and blankets from home and they will be sent home daily for washing 2:30 PM – DISMISSAL • Students will be dismissed from Kennedy Hall and the Pre-K3 building • In the event of a late arrival or early dismissal, parents are to call the main office and someone will come out to complete the health screening • Parents are to remain in their vehicles at all times when on campus

IN-PERSON LEARNING DAY: LOWER SCHOOL 7:30 AM – ARRIVAL • Parents and students will need to remain in cars for health screening • T here will be two arrival carpool areas: 1. T he front carpool (parallel to Old Canton Road) for students in grades 1 and 4 and those with ECC siblings 2. LUNCH AND SNACKS • Students will continue to have snack time in their rooms or outside • Lunch will occur in the Commons or in classrooms based on the schedule with no more than two homerooms in the Commons at once, with social distancing and sanitation measures in place • The homeroom pairings will remain as listed above BATHROOMS • Bathrooms will be kept to no more than three students at a time • All students will participate in additional handwashing education at the start of the school year WATER FOUNTAINS • Water fountains will be closed to students • All students should bring at least one filled and labeled water bottle each day • Bottle fillers will be available for students to refill their bottles as needed 2:45 PM – DISMISSAL • Students in elementary school will be dismissed from the same areas that they are dropped off • Students will be released from their homerooms in order to keep student numbers down • In the event of a late arrival or early dismissal, parents are to call the main office and someone will come out to complete the health screening • Parents are to remain in their vehicles at all times when on campus


SAINTS@HOME (GRADES PRE-K3 – 1)

HEALTH SCREENING • Students and families who have chosen this option will be required to complete their own health screenings • Please check your child’s temperature prior to the teacher’s visit each time and assess for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath, new loss of taste or smell) • I f your child has symptoms, or a temperature above 100.4, please advise the teacher that your child is ill and not to arrive that day • Please notify Anna Wadlington about the illness by phone (o 601-987-9308, c 601-209-4505) or email, and also consult your child’s medical provider for guidance

SCHEDULED VISITS • Students will have two scheduled visits to their homes per week for the purposes of instruction. Uniforms are not required for Saints@Home • Assignments and other activities will be provided for students to complete with caregivers between instructional visits ON CAMPUS EVENTS • Students who are participating in this program cannot attend on-campus events or activities RE-ENROLLMENT • Families will be required to re-enroll in the oncampus or Saints@Home option at the end of each quarter

VIRTUAL LEARNING (GRADES 2 – 4) CLASSES • Students and families who have chosen this option will be required to access synchronous learning times following the class schedule provided to families on August 10 • Students will participate in live streamed instruction from the classrooms and will participate in the activities as assigned by the teachers • T he recordings of the instructional lessons will be posted on Google Classroom for review • Asynchronous learning opportunities will be posted to Google Classroom for students to complete and submit

ATTIRE • Students will be required to wear uniform tops for the synchronous instructional times and are encouraged to virtually participate in Spirit Days, etc. ON CAMPUS EVENTS • Students who are participating in this program cannot attend on-campus events or activities RE-ENROLLMENT • Families will be required to re-enroll in the oncampus or Virtual Learning option at the end of each quarter

IN-PERSON LEARNING DAY: MIDDLE SCHOOL

7:35 - 8:25 - ARRIVE AT SCHOOL • Have your mask on! • Go through carline, answer screening questions, and get temperature checked while in your car • Receive a bracelet identifying you as having gone through the check • U pon arrival, head straight to your first class • Classes start at 8:15 am for 5th and 6th grades and 8:30 am for 7th and 8th grades CLASSES • Hybrid learning will allow desks to be spaced for full social distancing of 6 ft or more • Classes will be a long block with masks on and social distance enforced • Desks will be spread to allow the most space between them possible • Desks will be cleaned between each class • Long block classes with a short break in the middle F ITNESS • All children will have Fitness at least every other day • Fitness classes will be outside when weather permits and in large gymnasiums with strong social distancing when weather is bad RECESS • All children will have an outdoor recess time every day, weather permitting • Social distancing will be kept • Grade levels will have separate recess times to keep grade levels apart LUNCH • Will take place outside in small groups or in classrooms • Students will keep social distancing in order to allow them to remove masks

DISMISSAL • We will use a new carline to help keep social distancing and allow for safety • 5 th and 6th graders can depart beginning at 3:00 pm • 7th and 8th graders can depart beginning at 3:15 pm VIRTUAL STUDENTS • Virtual students will follow the same schedule as in-person students. Every class will have multiple streaming participants and teachers will make plans that actively include virtual students in class activities • There will be breaks regularly throughout the day to allow virtual students to step away from their screen. Additionally, teachers may give time during class blocks for virtual students to work independently and offline • Teachers may group virtual students to work together on group or projects or may pair virtual students with in-person students to promote connection • Students will be required to wear a uniform shirt, as their peers will be in full uniform in the classroom • Following MHSAA guidelines, 7th and 8th grade students may participate in athletics— parents will need to arrange transportation to pick them up immediately after their practice • Virtual students may choose to re-enroll for the 2nd quarter or may swap to in-person enrollment at that time • Quarantined students may join their classes as virtual students for the duration of their time at home

IN-PERSON LEARNING DAY: UPPER SCHOOL

7:45-8:10 AM – ARRIVAL • Have your mask on • Students will arrive to school through the rear entrance near the football field • Students will need to remain in their car for their daily health screening and temperature check, which will take place upon entry • Once their health screening is completed, students will be issued a wristband and can proceed to drop off or their parking spot if they drive to school • Students should head directly to their first period class upon arrival CLASS • Students must have their masks on at all times • C lasses will be long blocks and hybrid learning will allow desks to be spaced for full social distancing of 6 ft. or more • Desks will be cleaned between classes BREAKS • B reaks are a great time to take a walk around, connect with friends, ask quick questions of faculty members, and generally unplug • Students must keep their masks on and socially distance • Please remember that students will not have access to lockers or shelves in locker areas this year and will need to bring everything needed for school each day • Students will have limited access to the library during the day • For faculty planning purposes, please prearrange meetings when possible so faculty know to expect you

1:50 PM – ADVISORY/CHAPEL/CLUB • On Day 3, students will meet in advisory to collectively watch Chapel or other community programming, virtually meet with their clubs, or have advisory discussions 1:40 PM – DISMISSAL • Sports will begin at 3 pm every day VIRTUAL STUDENTS • Virtual students will follow the same schedule as in-person students. ILLNESS FAQ WHAT TYPE OF FACE COVERING SHOULD MY CHILD BE WEARING OR BRINGING TO SCHOOL? Students should bring either a new disposable mask every day to school, or a clean cloth face covering. The CDC guidance on face coverings includes this information: surgical masks and N95 respirators are critical supplies that should be reserved for healthcare workers and other first responders. Face shields are not interchangeable with a face mask; these items do not serve the same purpose. WHOM DO I CONTACT IF MY CHILD OR A MEMBER OF MY HOUSEHOLD TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19? Our COVID-19 Direct point of contact is Anna Wadlington, Director of Student Health. She can be reached by phone at 601-209-4505 or email wadlingtona@gosaints.org. WILL THERE BE A NURSE ON CAMPUS FULL TIME? Yes! We have two full time Registered Nurses on staff. Anna Wadlington and Jessica Goldsbury are the nurses on staff. We have clinics on both campuses with isolation areas. The clinic hours will be 7:30 am – 3:00 pm on both campuses. WHAT DO I DO IF MY CHILD OR ANOTHER MEMBER OF OUR HOUSEHOLD IS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19? If a student or a household member tests positive for COVID-19, please notify the Director of Student Health by phone or email, and do not send your student to school. We will follow any guidance provided to us by the Mississippi Department of Health regarding appropriate steps after we learn of a positive case of COVID-19 in a student or an employee. The student that tests positive to COVID-19, and who has been symptomatic, may return to campus when: The student has been fever free for 24 hours (without fever reducing medication), it has been at least 14 days since the onset of symptoms, symptoms have improved, and, the student has written return to school guidance from their medical provider. If a student tests positive for COVID-19 and has no symptoms, they may return to school when they complete a 14-day quarantine at home, and the student has written return to school guidance from their medical provider. If a household member of the student is positive for COVID-19, the student must quarantine for 14 days from time of exposure. Please notify the Director of Student Health by phone or email. Virtual instruction will be available for these students. *This is subject to change, and we will follow all guidelines issued by the Mississippi Department of Health when indicated. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE ARE NOTIFIED OF A CONFIRMED POSITIVE CASE OF COVID IN A MEMBER OF OUR COMMUNITY (STUDENT, EMPLOYEE, VISITOR)? You can view the MSDH guidance on confirmed cases or exposure within a school here. As of now, when the school is notified of a positive case of COVID-19: 1. The Mississippi Department of Health is contacted. They help advise and guide us in determining next steps with each individual case. The onset of symptoms, timing, and distancing efforts in place may guide this advice. 2. Exposure and quarantining guidance is based on the infected individuals’ close contacts. As of now, close contacts are defined as other individuals who were within 6 feet of the infected individual for longer than 15 minutes of time (mask or no mask), per the Mississippi Department of Health. Those individuals considered to be close contacts will be asked to quarantine, and seek guidance from their medical provider. *In a classroom or group setting (such as a sports team, or other activity) when it is difficult to determine specific contacts, then consideration for quarantine and testing for the whole group or classroom will be taken, rather than limiting to a few known close contacts.

We will follow any additional guidance issued by MSDH that may include advice on quarantining, deep cleaning of areas, contact tracing within our community, community notification, and possible closures or cancellations. WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS AN OUTBREAK OF COVID-19 CASES IN MY CHILD’S CLASS/TEAM/GRADE? According to the Mississippi Department of Health, an outbreak is defined as ≥3 cases of COVID-19 in a classroom or group (sports team, group activity, band, or other) within 14 days. In the event of a suspected outbreak, the entire class or group should be quarantined and excluded from the school setting. These cases would certainly be communicated to all members of the community that would be affected in an efficient manner. Further steps would be taken based on advice from MSDH. IS THERE A DEFINED POINT AT WHICH THE SCHOOL WOULD CONSIDER CLOSURE DUE TO COVID-19 CASES? According to the Mississippi Department of Health, the school may consider dismissal of the entire student/ faculty under the following conditions: i. If ≥3 individual classroom settings, defined groups, or defined buildings are experiencing simultaneous outbreaks, or ii. If multiple absentees or exclusions of students and staff are leading to disruptions in on-campus functioning and impacting the learning environment as determined by the school. We would also consider cancellations or closure if advised to do so from other local or state governing bodies. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY CHILD WAS DIRECTLY EXPOSED TO SOMEONE WHO TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19? Keep your child at home, do not bring them to school. Seek guidance from their medical provider regarding testing. For known direct exposure to a positive case of COVID-19, the child should remain quarantined at home for 14 days, regardless of testing. Please notify Anna Wadlington, Director of Student Health by phone (o 601-987-9308; c 601-209-4505) or email. IF A CHILD BECOMES ILL DURING THE SCHOOL DAY, HOW IS THIS HANDLED? Each campus will have a full time nurse. The student will be referred to the clinic, and the nurse will assess the student. The clinics are equipped with isolation areas, and would be used accordingly. The student’s guardian would be contacted. IF MY CHILD IS SENT HOME WITH FEVER, WILL THEY BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A COVID TEST TO RETURN TO SCHOOL? If your child is sent home during the school day with symptoms, you should seek guidance from their medical provider. Their provider will advise on testing. If they are tested, the child should remain at home while awaiting results, and notify Anna Wadlington. If the provider indicates that testing is not needed, they can return to school when fever free for 24 hours, and a note to return to school is written by their provider. See above questions regarding a positive test.

ADDITIONAL SCHOOL LIFE INFORMATION CAMPUS ACCESS In order to limit exposure, St. Andrew’s will not be allowing outside organizations to use our campus. Parents should stay in their vehicles while on campus and call designated numbers printed on signs throughout campus to pick up a child from After School Care or during the day. Parents will be only allowed on campus when paying cash for student tuition or another expense and in the Saints Shop.

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES The Student Support Services team will continue to partner with students and families, whether the students are learning on campus or virtually. Families can reach out to the SSS team to discuss academic, emotional, behavioral, or social concerns. The SSS team will also work with our faculty, staff, and community resources to offer social-emotional learning opportunities for our student body.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION Our goal has been, and will continue to be, to return to in-person learning with normal operations as described in the Green Plan on our Continuity of Learning Matrix. We must also recognize that at some point in the year, conditions may dictate that we transition to virtual learning as described in the Orange Plan. If this occurs, St. Andrew’s will continue to operate the Early Childhood Center as a day care facility for Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 students as long as we are allowed to do so. For families with children in grades Kindergarten – Grade 8 we will offer a 25% tuition discount for every day of virtual learning for up to 40 school days (approximately 8 weeks) after one week of virtual classes. This discount is provided in recognition of potential child care needs. If this situation occurs, parents will be sent additional information about this option.

ATHLETICS The MHSAA Executive Committee recently met and made some changes to the fall athletic schedule. They voted to delay the start of fall sports by 2 weeks.

WORSHIP This year, our community will worship together through weekly, virtual “Really Big Chapels.” Students on campus will participate at set times for each division, and the videos will be shared with families. Each video will incorporate students in all divisions and include birthday blessings for all members of our community. Additionally, we are working on plans to enable the chaplains to offer blessings for birthdays, pets, and other traditional times. FOOD SERVICES This fall, Flik will be providing and delivering individually packaged lunches to classrooms or other designated spaces. More information on meal plans and menus coming soon. Meals will be ordered in advance via a meal plan option. Please note, food service from Flik will NOT be available on the North Campus during the hybrid plan.

Practice for cross country, swimming, and volleyball will begin on August 10 with competition starting as early as August 24. Practice for Varsity football will begin on August 17. Scrimmages between schools are allowed on August 28 with games starting on September 4. The JV football team will open their season August 27. The 5th/6th grade and Middle School football team will meet when school starts on August 19 with games starting on September 1. There were no changes made to the playoffs for Fall sports. ADDITIONAL SCHOOL LIFE INFORMATION COLLEGE COUNSELING The college counseling office will not host college admission officers on campus until further notice. This has become standard procedure among independent schools across the nation and locally at this time. All national college fairs sponsored by NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling) will be online. College counselors are working to provide ways to engage with colleges virtually and will communicate regularly with students and parents about fall programming. SOUTH CAMPUS AFTER SCHOOL CARE (Early Childhood and Lower School) There are a limited number of spots for After School Care. Students who enroll in After School Care on the South Campus this Fall will stay in small groups within their grade for snack and indoor play time (Early Childhood) and homework/quiet time (1st - 4th grades). These small groups will be different from their homeroom cohorts. We will follow school day health and safety protocols— frequent hand washing, masks worn indoors, social distancing­— and shared items and indoor spaces will be sanitized daily. Pickup will be from Kennedy Hall for Early Childhood, and from the main office for 1st - 4th grades. There will be a special number that you will text to alert us you have arrived, and we will bring your child out to your car. This may take longer than usual; patience is important. After School Care registration is via Parent Forms in MySA. NORTH CAMPUS AFTER SCHOOL CARE (Middle School) There are a limited number of spots for After School Care this school year. MORNING INTER-CAMPUS SHUTTLE BUS This semester, we are running a full-sized St. Andrew’s bus between campuses in the morning only. Seats will be blocked off for distance/spacing and each rider will have an assigned seat. Masks will be required while riding the bus. The bus will be monitored by a member of the After School Care team, riders will undergo a temp check and health screening each morning before they are allowed to board, and the bus will be sanitized every day at the end of the run. Registration is via your Parent Dashboard in Campsite. The shuttle’s route schedule is as follows: 1. Depart South Campus at 7:10am 2. Arrive in front of the ARC* at 7:20am 3. Depart from the front of the ARC* at 7:35am 4. Arrive South Campus at 7:55am *The main difference is that the bus will go to the front side of the ARC on the north campus to drop off and pick up. The bus monitor will ensure all Lower School riders make it to their classrooms. ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS In order to limit the mixing of student cohorts on campus, we have made the difficult decision to pause our popular Enrichments Program for Early Childhood, Lower, and Middle School students. Enrichments will not meet for the first quarter of 2020, but we hope to resume Enrichments in October if conditions permit. AFTER SCHOOL MANDARIN We are excited to begin our After School Mandarin Program this fall for our lower school students. Students who are enrolled in our After School Care program may attend an hour-long weekly class for no charge. For students who are not enrolled in ASC, each class is $50 per semester. Mandarin for 1st and 2nd grades meets on Mondays from 3:30 - 4:30pm, 3rd and 4th grade meets on Tuesdays from 3:30 - 4:30pm, and Early Childhood meets on Wednesdays from 3:30 - 4:30pm. Space is extremely limited - registration is via Campsite and will begin on Monday, August 10. Classes start the week of August 31, and run roughly 14 weeks, ending the week of November 30.


MASK FAQ

WHAT TYPE OF MASK SHOULD STUDENTS BE WEARING? They can wear a clean, cloth face covering every day, or a new disposable mask every day. The school has a supply of disposable masks, even some pediatric sized ones, should a child forget their mask or there is an issue during the day (backup supply, not a primary supply, for students). These are available in the clinics or the division offices. The CDC guidance on face coverings includes this information: surgical masks and N95 respirators are critical supplies that should be reserved for healthcare workers and other first responders. Face shields are not interchangeable with a face mask; these items do not serve the same purpose. WHEN SHOULD THEY BE WEARING THEIR MASKS? The most recent mask mandate specified that students should be wearing a mask when inside or outside of a classroom or school building and distancing cannot be maintained. There are some exceptions which include: people who cannot wear a mask due to a medical or behavioral condition, people seeking to communicate with someone who is hearing-impaired that requires the mouth to be visible, people while eating and drinking, people engaged in swimming activity, people engaged in fitness, exercise, or sports activity, and people who are giving a speech, presentation, or broadcast to an audience, and children under the age of 6 (for our purposes, Kindergarten will be wearing masks). DOES THIS MEAN STUDENTS CAN REMOVE THEIR MASKS? We will all need mask breaks. Please make sure they are distanced when and if they are removing their masks. They should avoid socializing or talking to others during these times. They can also remove their masks when eating or drinking at a distance from others. You can defer to your division head if specific guidance per division is needed. HOW SHOULD STUDENTS BE APPLYING AND REMOVING MASKS? We have a lovely video with one of our nurses, Jessica Goldsbury, with specific instructions. You can view it here. **Our policies and guidance are subject to change as we receive updated information from the CDC or our Mississippi Department of Health.
