Each year, Arcola • presents around 60 productions and events. Half are new plays and involve new talent and young companies. In 2013/14, a third were by ethnically diverse artists and two-thirds had women at the helm as writers, directors and producers • provides 28 weeks of free rehearsal, showcasing and office space to emerging ethnically diverse artists • 3,000 people participate in our community, education and skills development activities and 2,500 students attend performances – a bigger offer than that of other theatres with at least twice the staff and budget
Our programme is the same as other off West-End theatres who receive up to four times more public funding. With six (co)-productions in 2013/14 we created as much work as others with double the artistic budget. We achieve all of this with only eight full-time staff and an average ticket price of less than £10. Arts Council funding makes up 25% of our annual budget. The rest is self-generated and we need to raise more to realise our artistic ambitions. Arcola has served as a lab and launch pad for new work and new talent for the past 14 years. We have brought European and world theatre to the UK and rediscovered forgotten and neglected works of the drama canon. As an Arcola Supporter you will celebrate our shared ambitions whilst helping to ensure our ongoing success. We can’t do it without you. Thank you in advance for supporting our work.
