THE SC OOL KLA SCHOOL OF NORTH BAY VILLAGE KLA School of North Bay Village is a unique preschool dedicated to providing high quality education to children between the ages of 3 months and 5 years. Our mission is to offer an outstanding preschool to families in Miami Beach, North Bay Village and the surrounding communities. Located on Treasure Island, our school provides an exceptional learning environment.

OUR PHILOSOPHY IS INSPIRED BY THE REGGIO EMILIA APPROACH Our educational philosophy is inspired by The Reggio Emilia approach, which encourages each child to explore the world around them and learn through experience. Children must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, seeing, and hearing. To create such an environment: - Each room and our signature Atelier (Art Studio) was custom built to stimulate young children. - Each piece of furniture was carefully hand-picked to provide the highest quality of cognition, safety and comfort. - Large glass windows are featured in each classroom to spark curiosity in children, creating an atmosphere in which they love to explore, discover and grow. When Newsweek magazine praised the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education in the 1990s as the best in the world, the philosophy soon gained popularity accross the United States, including in a growing number of public schools.

PA ENTS Parents are a crucial factor in our program as they are the “third teacher” (the enviroment is the 2nd teacher) in the Reggio philosophy. The children’s daily activities are recorded through documentation, pictures and videos. This will serve as a vehicle for communication to further enhance the involvement of families and to ensure that the philosophy does not end when the child leaves the classroom.

O R STO Y OUR FOUNDERS KLA School of North Bay Village was founded by Sophia Zamor and her brother Thierry, two engineers on whom attending a pre-school had a significant personal and professional impact. Believing that each child has a right to the benefits of early childhood education they decided to open their own pre-school.

“We want our school to serve as an example of what high quality early childhood education should be Thierry Zamor, co-owner.

TIMELINE

Some of the benefits of early childhood education: • Preschool can help combat crime, teen pregnancy, and high school dropout rates. • Early c hildhood e d u c a t i o n has a better return on investment than the stock market. • The U.S. lags behind almost every other country when it comes to preschool, including Mexico, Chile, and Russia. • Early childhood education is a bipartisan issue. • Preschool can save families thousands of dollars in child care costs each year.

My name is Kenia Sada; School Director. It’s a wonderful thing when a career and a passion come together. I began my teaching career about 10 years ago, unaware that it would become my life’s passion. Every year I was inspired, challenged, and learned lessons that children taught me. In 2010, I had an opportunity to step out of the classroom, which was not easy, but this new chapter was a way to share my passion with others in the community. I became a member of an initiative in Miami-Dade, a Quality Rating Improvement System. This initiative provides assistance, and advocates for over 200 Early Childhood Programs throughout Miami-Dade. The field of Early Childhood Education is evolving, and new initiatives, and innovative programs are advocating for the right to quality education. The Reggio Emilia Approach contains the foundation to such a program. This inspiring approach allows children to be active participants of their own learning experiences.

Our passionate and highly skilled teachers, along with a stimulating program, ensure each child’s abilities, curiosity, and natural aptitudes are nurtured in ways that develop new and inherent talents. Teachers take on the role of co-learners, observers, facilitators, and researchers as they participate in each child’s exploration. Each teacher performs different duties in the class, wich include asking questions, taking notes, recording the childer’s conversations, observing, listening, and taking photographs. Teachers provide encouragement to help foster the children’s curiosity. Under their guidance, children learn from each of the distinct “fields of knowledge,” which include mathematics, science, language, social studies, art, music, and literature. This stimulation leads to lifelong comunication skills and confidence.
