Keep Your Family Safe this Thanksgiving with our Helpful Holiday Safety Tips • Make sure smoke detectors are working before starting your holiday cooking. • Keep potholders and food wrappers at least three feet from heat sources in the kitchen. • Avoid loose clothing and short sleeves when cooking. • Turn off stoves, ovens and kitchen appliances when finished using them. • Set timers to keep track of extended cooking times. • Turn pot and pan handles inward on the stove, to avoid accidents. • If deep-frying a turkey, keep your fryer outside and away from buildings and other flammable materials and do not overfill it with oil.
Congratulations to our October Volunteers of the Month!
Gabe Harley and Michelle Sandretto are both health and safety instructors that brought significant value to community members and the Station by their commitment to community education. Gabe showed dynamic flexibility in his ever changing work assignments with his NCIS command while still managing to deliver both a CPR class as well as a two day Instructor Course. In November he will be teaching a second Instructor Course as well. Michelle successfully delivered two Babysitting Certification courses including one that was delivered at the Teen Center in Marinai for the first time. Her willingness to teach at a creatively new location resulted in the largest class in recent memory and it benefitted numerous kids who will be even more effective babysitters in the Sigonella community.
