Third Annual Bike Rodeo

When: Saturday, May 3rd, 1300 to 1600 Where: Marinai Soccer Field Parking Lot What: A fun event designed to teach children bicycle safety and proper technique as well as promote a healthy, active lifestyle. Maneuver through obstacle courses, learn to utilize hand signaling, and receive instruction on simple bike maintenance. This a free event. Advanced registration is not required. Food and drinks will be on sale at the event. There will be hamburgers, brats, chips, water/soft drinks/juice, and root beer floats! Who: The kids of Sigonella! Congratulations to our April Volunteer of the Month! Maryann Hurtado has proven to be an invaluable asset to Medical Homeport, USNH Sigonella and Flight Line Clinic. She has donated nearly 40 hours of her time to support the Red Cross mission, specifically the Support to Armed Forces program. A welcoming face at the reception desk of Medical Homeport and competent phlebotomist at Flight Line Clinic, she always has a smile and the willingness to learn and perform tasks as needed. Maryann continues to prove herself an invaluable asset and is the shining example of a Red Cross Volunteer.

Now Recruiting: Special Event Volunteers Would you like to become an American Red Cross Special Event Volunteer?

Have you been looking for a way to be more involved in the Sigonella Community? Do you have experience planning or coordinating events? If you answered yes to either of those questions then we have the perfect opportunity for you! The American Red Cross is now recruiting Special Event volunteers to help plan, coordinate, and execute monthly events. If you would like more information on becoming a special event volunteer, stop by our office on NAS 1 or give us a call a DSN 624-4900.

Wellness Fair @ Relay for Life May 17 (1000-1400) ***Help man the Red Cross info table during the fair and assist CPR instructors with demos during the event

Rotator Welcome Counter May 7 and May 21 (1200-1600, time can vary based on delays and includes time to prepare supplies) ***Hand out water, snacks, and supplies to Rotator passengers making Sigonella their new home

RELO Fair May 9 and May 23 (1230-1530, includes set -up and clean-up time) ***Help welcome new Sigonellans during INDOC and share information about Red Cross Services and how they can get involved

Now Recruiting: Hospital Volunteers Would you like to become an American Red Cross Hospital Volunteer? Have you been looking for a way to be more involved in the Sigonella Community? Do you have experience working in a Hospital? If you answered yes to either of those questions then we have the perfect opportunity for you! The American Red Cross is now recruiting volunteers for Naval Hospital Sigonella. The available opportunities include computer support, office filing, records clerk, phone operator, front desk assistant, and nurses. Pet Appreciation Day

The Red Cross and the Sigonella Animal Welfare Society (SAWS) partnered to host Pet Appreciation Day in Marinai on Saturday, April 26th. Pets from the community came out and enjoyed a day of fun and exercise! Pet owners had the opportunity to learn more about the upcoming Pet First Aid class that the Red Cross will be offered this summer.


2014 Volunteer Recognition Luncheon

On Tuesday, April 29th, the Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon took place in the Chart Room on NAS 1. The guest speaker was CAPT Lamberton, Executive Officer for US Naval Hospital Sigonella. Guests enjoyed lunch catered by Angela & Brothers while Station Manager, Kathryn Lasky, presented the annual awards.
