Rainy Season is Here!

Fall/Winter can mean heavy rains and flooding in Sigonella. Keep your family safe with these tips on preparing for a flood.

Prepare a Family Disaster Plan Assemble a Disaster Supplies Kit Containing: -First aid kit and essential medications -Canned food and can opener -At least 3 gallons of water per person -Flashlights and extra batteries -Protective clothing, rainwear, and bedding or sleeping bags -Special items for infant, elderly, or disabled family members Have a NEO Kit prepared for your family and be sure to include your pets.

Know what to expect -If it has been raining hard for several hours or steadily raining for several days, be alert to the possibility of a flood If you would like more information on how to get you and your family prepared for potential floods or other disasters contact the Red Cross office on NAS 1.

Now Recruiting: Hospital Volunteers Would you like to become an American Red Cross Hospital Volunteer?

Have you been looking for a way to be more involved in the Sigonella Community? Do you have experience working in a Hospital? If you answered yes to either of those questions then we have the perfect opportunity for you! The American Red Cross is now recruiting volunteers for Naval Hospital Sigonella. The available opportunities include computer support, office filing, records clerk, phone operator, front desk assistant, and nurses. If you would like more information on becoming a hospital volunteer, stop by our office on NAS 1 or give us a call a DSN 624-4900.

Rotator Welcome Counter November 6 and November 20 (12001600, time can vary based on delays or other issues, and includes time to prepare supplies) ***Hand out water, snacks, and supplies to Rotator passengers making Sigonella their new home

RELO Fair November 12 and November 26 (14001600, includes set-up and clean-up time) ***Help welcome new Sigonellans during INDOC and share information about Red Cross Services and how they can get involved

Fire Prevention Night Teaches Kids About Fire Safety and How to be Prepared On Tuesday, October 22nd, members of the community joined Sigonella’s Fire and Emergency Services for the Annual Fire Prevention Night in the Marinai Housing Complex. The Red Cross showed its support with volunteers handing out information on keeping your home safe from fires.

Would you like to become a certified American Red Cross Instructor?

Have you been looking for a way to be more involved and help the members of the Sigonella Community? We have the perfect opportunity for you! The American Red Cross is looking for new volunteer instructors to teach health and safety classes. We will be offering a two day instructor trainer course on November 22 and 23. If you would like more information on becoming an instructor or would like to sign up for the training course, stop by our office on NAS 1 or give us a call a DSN 624-4900.

The Red Cross will be hosting the Annual Armed Forces Bowl Cook-Out Event on December 30th at Take 5 on NAS 2. Come by our office for more information or to sign-up as a volunteer!
