September is National Preparedness Month. Are You Prepared? September is National Preparedness Month and the American Red Cross wants to make sure you are ready if something happens. There are several different types of disasters and the Red Cross has suggestions on how to prepare for all of them. We can help you prepare your family, your school, and your workplace. Noncombatant Evacuation Operations Kits Another important step in preparing for potential disasters is completing a NEO Kit for your family. Having a properly prepared NEO Kit can help make sure your family is ready to go when disasters hit. Below is a checklist of the items your kit should contain. • Passport for each family member • Emergency Pay Form DD 1337 • An inventory of all your household goods (be sure to include any vehicles along with titles and insurance papers) • Birth Certificates for each family member • Identification papers to include: copies of each family members Military identification; Sojourners Permits and personal insurance (if applicable) • Pre-prepared travel orders for DOD civilian family members • Power of Attorney paperwork (if applicable) • Navpers Form 1740/6 • Pet Supplies (if applicable): identification papers (Immunizations, photo of pet); storage cages for each pet; and a minimum of 14 days of food

Have you been looking for a way to be more involved and help the members of the Sigonella Community? We have the perfect opportunity for you! The American Red Cross is always looking for new volunteer instructors to teach health and safety classes to the Sigonella community. We will be offering a two day instructor trainer course twice in the month of October. If you would like more information on becoming an instructor or would like to sign up for the training course, stop by our office on NAS 1 or give us a call at DSN 624-4900.

The American Red Cross Welcomes New Team Members Dennis Moran Station Manager Prior to Sigonella, Mr. Moran was assigned to Fort Leonard Wood, MO., Bagram Air Base Afghanistan, Baumholder, Germany, Baghdad, Iraq, and Fort Carson, CO.

Michael Matheny Station Chairman Mike has a diverse career path of 17 years in social service backgrounds, including higher education management, financial consulting, career guidance, academic counseling, and leadership development. Amanda Herring Field Office Assistant Amanda has a background in community outreach, development, data research, and special event planning for nonprofit organizations.
