Employee Wellness and Civilian Fitness Program Did you know, as a DoD civilian employee, you could participate in a fitness program designed to fit into your work schedule? Ask me how you could participate in this program or just for more details. Corporate Wellness fact: Studies show that individuals who engage in physical activity are more productive at their workplace and miss less work than those that do not workout on a regular basis. Giving an employee that additional time in the middle of the day is to act as an energy boost and give them a shot of euphoria and make them just as productive in the end part of the day as in the beginning.

The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea which runs along the 38th parallel. The DMZ cuts the Korean Peninsula roughly in half. The north side of DMZ is the Democratic People`s Republic of Korea, also known as North Korea. Dora Observatory is situated in Paju (Gyeonggi-do) and at the northernmost point of the Military Demarcation Line of the Western Front. The Dora Observatory replaced the previous Songaksan Observation Post which is now closed. From the observatory, visitors can overlook North Korea and its various locations including Gaseseong, Songaksan, Kim I1-Sung statue, and Cooperation Farm (Geumamgol). The observatory offers 500 seats, VIP rooms and abundant parking space. It was first opened to the public in January 1987. 3rd Infiltration Tunnel Only 27 miles from Seoul (less than an hour`s drive), the third tunnel was discovered in October 1978. Almost identical in structure to Tunnel 2, it’s a mile-long tunnel that is 6 feet high and 7 feet wide. It penetrates 0.3 miles south of the Military Demarcation Line at a point 2.5 miles south of the Panmunjeom, running through bedrock at a depth of about 240 feet below ground. Capable of moving a full division (plus their weapons) per hour, it was evidently designed for a surprise attack on Seoul. This tunnel is only 1.2 mile from a key outpost defending the Munsan corridor leading to Seoul. Paju Outlet Mall What a fabulous modern shopping area, very relaxing and really worth a visit truly a shopping paradise not only for locals but also for tourists. So many international brands are available as in many shopping malls. Bus Schedule Yongsan Outdoor Recreation Center: 0750 Hovey CAC: 0915 Casey CAC: 0930 Paju Outlet: 1230 Return at site: 1500
Kijong-dong other wise known as propaganda village a north Korean village within the DMZ, it is a fake village setup by North Korea in the 50s to intice South Koreans to defect to the North. at the DMZ in South Korea.

ITAEWON SHOPPING This area is located conveniently outside Gate 12 (by the gas station) and across the street. Itaewon Street is the most exotic place in Seoul to spend a day of shopping, dining, and hanging out. Itaewon holds a long history in its making and is the first place most tourists want to visit in Korea. After the U.S. set up a military base in Korea during the 1970s, many foreigners stationed at the base settled near the Itaewon area, naturally developing the region into a shopping district catering to foreigners. Later, the existence of Itaewon became known worldwide after the widely publicized 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Seoul Olympics. In 1997, Itaewon was finally designated as an official tourist zone. Please bring Korean Won for souvenir and lunch or snacks.

MILITARY CONSUMER MONTH Imposter scams topped the list of frauds reported by military consumers in 2018, with total losses of $34 million.
Is that SSA on the line? Scammers call and pretend to be from the Social Security Administration (SSA). They say your Social Security number (SSN) has been suspended because of suspicious activity or it being involved in a crime. The FTC’s latest Data Spotlight finds that reports about SSA imposters are surging. People told us they lost $19 million to SSA imposters in 2018.
Here's what to know: Your SSN is not about to be suspended, neither is your bank accounts about to be seized. You shouldn’t verify your number to anyone who calls out of the blue. • SSA will never call to threaten your benefits or tell you to wire money, send cash, or put money on gift cards. Anyone who tells you to do those things is a scammer. Every time. • The real SSA number is 1-800-772-1213, but scammers can make that number appear in the caller ID. If you’re worried about what the caller says, hang up and call 1-800-772-1213 to speak to the real SSA. Even if the wait time is long, confirm with the real SSA before talking to these callers. • Never give any part of your SSN – or your bank account or credit card number – to anyone who contacts you. To report this scam, go to ftc.gov/complaint. If you already gave one of these callers your SSN and you're worried about identity theft, visit IdentityTheft.gov/ssa.

Hang up on robo calls If you answer the phone and hear a recorded message instead of a live person, it's a robo call. Technology has made it cheap and easy for scammers to make illegal calls from anywhere in the world, and to hide from law enforcement by displaying fake caller ID information. The robo voice may claim to be a utility, a government agency, or even a foreign consulate. Don’t believe them. Imposter scams often come by illegal robo call. Here are some steps you can take. Hang up on illegal robo calls. It’s not rude to hang up on a recording. • Consider protecting yourself with technology like a call blocking app or device. You also can ask your phone provider if it has call-blocking tools. To learn more, go to ftc.gov/calls. • Report the call. Report illegal robocalls at ftc.gov/ complaint. The more we hear from you, the more we can help fight scams. • foreign consulate. Don’t believe them. Imposter scams often come by illegal robocall. Here are some steps you can take. https://go.usa.gov/xmeuB
Don’t pay scammers with a gift card Gift cards are a convenient way for scammers to steal money from you. Many different kinds of imposters ask you to pay with gift cards, and they all have an urgent need for you to send money right away. The callers will often tell you to go buy a popular gift card (like, iTunes, Google Play, or Amazon) at a particular store near you (like Walmart, Target, Walgreens, or CVS). They may even have you buy several cards at several
stores. Sometimes, the callers will stay on the phone with you while you go to the store. Once you buy the card, the callers then will demand the gift card number and PIN on the back of the card. Those numbers let the scammers immediately get the money you loaded onto the card and then disappear, usually without a trace. That’s because gift cards are like cash: if you buy a gift card and someone uses it, you probably cannot get your money back. Gift cards are for gifts, not payments. Anyone who demands payment by gift card is always a scammer. That’s a sure sign of a scam. Every time.
Security numbers, or your login IDs and passwords. Scammers use this information to steal your money, your identity, or both. Scammers often use familiar company names or pretend to be someone you know. They pressure you to act now – or something bad will happen. Recognize the bait, avoid the hook, and report phishing scams at FTC.gov/complaint. It is Military Consumer Month. Contact your local Army Community Service (ACS) or www.ftc.gov for more information
If you paid a scammer with a gift card, tell the company that issued the card right away. When you contact the company, tell them the gift card was used in a scam. Ask them if they can refund your money. If you act quickly enough, the company might be able to get your money back. Also, tell the store where you bought the gift card as soon as possible.
Why report fraud? In 2018, the Federal Trade Commission received more than 122,500 reports from military consumers – including current or former service members or military spouses. Scammers are good at what they do – and they target all of us. They hope to get people off balance just long enough to take advantage. The reports help us track how scams evolve and how they’re affecting the military and veterans communities. If you spot a possible scam, talk about it with someone you trust. Then report it to your local Security TEAM. Your story can help someone.
Phishing – avoid the hook Phishing is when someone uses fake emails or texts – or even phone calls – to get you to share valuable personal information, like account numbers, Social Security numbers, or your login IDs and passwords. Scammers use this information to steal your money, your identity, or both. Scammers often use familiar company names or pretend to be someone you know. They pressure you to act now – or something bad will happen.
