EIGHT OF DIAMONDS displayed a decent turn of foot when opening his account at Lingfield recently and should be capable of coping with this 5lb higher mark, provided he is able to reproduce that level of form back on turf. Mucuna is the logical option for forecast purposes, but Via Serica may well take a step forward now pitched into a handicap and he could be the one to follow the selection home.

RACE STATS LEADING COURSE TRAINER (17-22): M Channon (19 wins from 116 runners, 16%) runs LARK LANE TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): D & C Kubler (3 wins from 10 runners, 30%) runs PROMOTION LONGEST TRAVELLER: FALMOUTH BALLERINA trained by J Tickle, Tiverton, 71 miles. RACE SUMMARY

Recent solid form is thin on the ground in this handicap so the percentage call is PROMOTION after having produced a career-best effort when third at Salisbury 3 weeks ago. Provided the cheekpieces have the same effect today, he gets the verdict to open his account. Mrembo was doing her best work late when sixth at Windsor recently so she’s feared most upped further in trip, ahead of Delahoussaye.

The one that stands out here is SISTERANDBROTHER who is well treated on his best form and there’s got to be chance that in-form new trainer Milton Harris will be able to get a bit more out of him. The lightly-raced Persuasive Powers appeals as one who could have more to offer this year so she’s a possible threat. Adrian Wintle pair Plansina and Blue Hero are also respected.

Ed Dunlop has had his team in good form this spring and GIRL INTHE PICTURE is taken to provide him with another winner. Adatorio ran a solid race in this headgear at Wolverhampton last time and rates a threat, while Life’s A Beach failed to fire on his Kempton handicap debut last year but the fact that he went off a short-priced favourite suggests that a lot better was anticipated and it’ll fascinating to see whether there’s similar strength behind him in the market on his return. 1-2-3: 1.GIRL INTHE PICTURE (IRE) 2.ADATORIO 3.LIFE’S A BEACH (IRE) KEY colours
