Avery warm welcome to Bath Racecourse for The Whitsbury Manor Stud Lansdown Fillies’ Stakes Evening
This evening, we are delighted to host the Lansdown Fillies Stakes, kindly sponsored by Whitsbury Manor Stud which is one of our two Listed races in our race programme. This was won last year by the Karl Burke trained, White Lavender which following victory here, went on to come 2nd by a short head in the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp in October.
This highlights the standard of horse we will get to see here this evening in the feature race and I would like to wish all owners and trainers of horses tonight the very best of luck for this evening and for the remainder of the season.
We are delighted to have Whitsbury Manor Stud sponsor all races this evening, extending the partnership between the stud and ourselves which is now into its 11th year Whitsbury Manor Stud have a fantastic array of sires standing currently, including Showcasing who is the only stallion to have sired two Group 1 Commonwealth Cup winners and it is a privilege to welcome the team from Whitsbury Manor this evening.
It will be great to see so many faces back at Bath for our first of our seven evening fixtures of 2023. Looking ahead, we have a very exciting race schedule this year with our next raceday being our Super Hero Raceday on the bank holiday on Monday 1st May. Further ahead, we have Ladies Day on Saturday 17th June and our Cider Festival with music from The Wurzels on Saturday 19th August, two especial highlights that are worth noting in your calendar.
We hope you have a wonderful evening with us, and we hope to welcome you back to other racedays throughout 2023.
Wishing you a very enjoyable evening from all at Bath Racecourse.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
ëëëëë Selected to win the race
ëëëëê Good chance of being placed.
ëëëêê By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
ëëêêê Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
ëêêêê Can be given little or no chance.
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

RACE SUMMARY
ƒHITE LAVENDER made a winning reappearance in this race last season and ended the campaign with a close second in the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp, so has obvious claims. Happy Romance oÍen competes at a higher level than this so rates the biggest threat ahead of Fast Response.

RACE SUMMARY
ƒhile PA# ARM¿ didn’t show much in a handful of appearances in this sphere for Eoin Doyle in Ireland last year, he resumes on a potentially handy mark judged on his recent, wide-margin hurdles success. Next on the list is Pittsburg, who did well under the circumstances at Lingfield last time and he promises to be suited by this stiÜer test. Uther Pendragon is best of the rest.
