On behalf of the team at Bath Racecourse we would like to extend a verywarm welcome to you on our Rum and Reggae Racenight!

We are set for a fantastic evening of both music and racing, with a number of exciting flat races taking place tonight, in addition to some outstanding music being performed throughout the evening.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome this evening’s sponsors – Bath Marquees, The Great Britain’s Tap Dance Team, Cortus Limited and Beckford’s Rum. I would like to thank each of our sponsors for their generosity and wish them all an enjoyable evening.

Throughout the evening there will be the popular Rainbow Steel Band performing around the site, and after racing concludes we will be having a concert on our Final Furlong area by an exceptional local reggae band, Talisman. We also have a variety of Caribbean foods and drinks available throughout the evening for you to enjoy.

For music-lovers, we have a number of upcoming racedays that feature live music performances. In the near future, we have our Cider Racenight featuring a performance from The Wurzels on Saturday 19th August; in addition to our Gentleman’s Day on Saturday 16th September, which is featuring a live performance from the magnificent Oasish after racing. Both of these days are popular choices within our raceday calendar, and are perfect places to bring both friends and family for an incredible day out.

Today we are sadly saying a farewell to Graeme Fletcher, who has been the regional director for Bath during this season. All of the team would like to thank Graeme for his support and hard work throughout his time here at Bath Racecourse, we are very saddened to see him go and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

We hope you have an enjoyable evening here with us, making the most of the racing, music, food and drink on offer I would like to wish the best of luck to all trainers, jockeys and owners with their runners tonight who I am sure will be getting a big cheer when they cross the finish line.

ABANDONMENT POLICY

In the event of racing being abandoned, the following rules apply:

• Abandonment before completion of the 1st race – badge valid for the next race meeting or full refund

• Abandonment prior to completion of the 3rd race – 50% refund

• Abandonment thereafter – no refund

No refunds will be made on the day of racing. All refunds should be claimed in writing within 14 days of the abandoned meeting.

ADMISSION BADGES

Racegoers are politely requested to ensure their badges are worn and to be clearly visible at all times. If you have purchased an E-ticket, please ensure you have this with you at all times.

DISABLED USERS

A disabled viewing ramp is available for wheelchair users by the Winning Post. There is disabled access to both restaurants and a variety of disabled toilets across the racecourse.

DOGS

Dogs, with the exception of guide dogs, are not permitted within any of the enclosures.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES FOR YOUR SAFETY

Bath Racecourse puts in place robust safety measures to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment. Should an incident occur which is beyond our control, it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced security staff to be located at various points throughout the Racecourse. This information is precautionary and we trust the procedures will not be needed.

Please remember in the event of an emergency, to take your belongings with you and, under the direction of Bath Racecourse representatives, proceed quickly and quietly to the agreed area.

HORSE WELFARE COMES FIRST AT BATH

Bath’s top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and rider We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at every stage and a top of the range horse ambulance in attendance at each meeting.

It is our policy to erect green screens around the horse requiring veterinary attention, to provide the privacy required at such times. Please do not assume the worse if screens are erected around such a horse. We are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care. Racegoers may take photographs for private use. However, no flash photography is allowed around the Pre-Parade Ring, Parade Ring or Winners Enclosure. Anyone with a professional/ high quality level of equipment needs to be granted permission to take photography on course in order to protect our racecourse image rights.

Please also be aware that racegoers entering Bath Racecourse do so by accepting our terms and conditions of entry, which state that their photograph may be taken and that this may be used in promotional material.

TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS

In order to ease traffic congestion on leaving the course please would all traffic for Bath and the South West exit via the right hand lane, and traffic for Bristol and the North East exit via the left hand lane. It is hoped that these arrangements will provide a smoother exit for all patrons and your co-operation is appreciated.

FINAL to be run over 5f 160y at Bath on 16 September, 2023. In the event of the abandonment of this qualifying race, any horse which has been declared to run in this race , or any horse entered to run in this race if the time of the abandonment was prior to the declaration stage, will be qualified to enter the Final. Any horse which has been eliminated from this qualifying race will also be eligible, subject to the Rules of Racing, to enter the Final. The British Horseracing Authority has modified the Elimination and Balloting Procedures (contained in the Race Administration Code) for the purposes of this race, such that a horse will gain protection from elimination by obtaining points throughout the series. Points will be awarded in each qualifier as follows: Winner-10 points, 2nd-8 points, 3rd-6 points, 4th-4 points, 5th-2 points, 6th-1 point. Points will also be awarded under the Bath Frequent Runner Scheme. Horses that Start in three Qualifiers at Bath during 2022 will be awarded 9 points.
