EaRLYBIRD TICKETS AVAILABLE! FRIDAY 3NOVEMBER bath-racecourse.co.uk Sponsored by

On behalf of everyone at Bath Racecourse, we would like to extend you a very warm welcome to our Gentleman’s Day.

We are set for a wonderful afternoon of racing, with 7 exciting flat races taking place throughout the day. The highlights of today’s racing will be the finals of our Bath Summer Series, which will see the Sprint & Stayers finals each being ran for £30,000. Horses in the finals have been running in qualifying races since June with 8 qualifying races being ran for each final and points being allocated for placings within these races and bonus points being awarded for horses who have ran in 3 or more qualifiers.

Following racing we have a performance on the Final Furlong lawn from Oasish who are one of the leading Oasis cover bands and put on a fantastic show. I would also like to draw your attention to the Betfred St Leger Stakes which is being ran at Doncaster today and will be shown on the big screens during the day. The oldest and final Classic race of the season, this year’s renewal looks like a fantastic race so all the best if you are having a bet.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome today’s sponsors, Thorn Baker Group, Signs Express, Big Event Hire, the family of Neil Kellar and the family of Lorraine Webb. I would like to thank them for their generosity, and wish them an enjoyable afternoon.

Looking ahead to October, we are looking forward to the Beckford Stakes returning to Bath next month. This Listed race, taking place on Wednesday 18th October has a prize pot of £65,000 and gave The King his first Listed winner when it was held at Great Yarmouth last season. Tickets & Hospitality can be purchased on our website with a discount for booking in advance so head to www.bath-racecourse.co.uk to guarantee your place at this brilliant fixture.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Owners and Trainers who have chosen to run their horses here at Bath throughout the season. Your continued support is greatly appreciated, and we wish you an enjoyable time here with us. On behalf of everyone at Bath Racecourse, we wish you luck both at today’s meeting in addition to all future fixtures, and we hope to welcome you back soon.

As we move into the off season, we see our ever-popular fireworks night return on Friday 3rd November and a host of Christmas party nights in December. Both of these are fantastic opportunities to enjoy evenings with us with either your family or work colleagues so please do visit the website to book in.

I hope you all have an enjoyable afternoon here at Bath, best of luck and we hope to welcome you back to another fixture before the end of the season.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet

You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet

If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

All owners can enjoy 20 syndicate badges at all fixtures, on all ARC tracks* All ARC tracks will open dedicated and exclusive syndicate lounge facilities throughout 2023. *Terms & Conditions apply.

Last year’s victor CALL ME GINGER looks to have arrived in peak form again and can complete a quick hat-trick after stylish recent successes at Chester and Ascot The Big Board could find this intermediate trip to his liking and is feared most, although Significantly is another who could shine at this distance and merits serious consideration. Vintage Clarets, Kimngrace and Aberama Gold complete the shortlist in a fiercely competitive renewal of the Portland.

TIMEFORM

Just the 9 runners for the oldest Classic but it has a very open feel to it. CONTINUOUS took his form to a whole new level in a well-run race when a decisive winner of the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York and that marks him out as the one to beat with this trip likely to unlock even more. Gregory failed to land the odds in that race but he carried a penalty that day and this contest will play to his strengths (though Dettori now rides Arrest). At longer odds, Tower of London cannot be ruled out

He is taken to get the better of Akhu Najla, who also may yet do better over this longer distance with blinkers applied. La Yakel is another who enters calculations.

RACE SUMMARY

SUANNI has dropped a long way in the weights and looked back in form when fourth at Wolverhampton last time, so he’s worth chancing over a C&D that he’s been successful before. We’re Reunited, who was runner-up here last time, is an obvious danger and Malham Tarn Cove is likely to be back on his game.

Having performed with credit in several valuable big-field handicaps this year, SONNY LISTON is taken to deservedly hit the target He again has the assistance of Ryan Moore, who partnered the 4-y-o at Royal Ascot where he was a fine second in the Royal Hunt Cup and also when fourth of 19 in a notable handicap at the York Ebor Festival. Millebosc is nicely handicapped based on his exploits in France and he is feared most back at 1m ahead of Empirestateofmind, Liberty Lane and The Gatekeeper

Racecourses this winter!

In Loving Memory of our Mother, Lorraine Elizabeth Webb, who left us back in January this year after a long and courageous battle with cancer

Mum had a huge career with and passion for race horses, having worked for trainer Brian McMahon back in the 70’s.

Nothing made her smile more than watching the racing and being a part of it and It only seemed right to celebrate her birthday today at her favourite racetrack Bath- Win Big everyone! And raise a glass for Mum in the last race.

Organised by her loving family & Twin boys James & Henriwe miss you loads.
