OnbehalfofBathRacecourse,Iwouldliketoextendyouaverywarm welcometoourSummerEveningRacingtonight whichiskindlysponsoredbyAKBets.
We are set for a fantastic evening of racing, with 7 exciting races taking place today. All 7 of our races are being kindly sponsored byAK Bets this evening; so I would like to extend my gratitude for their generous sponsorship and wish them an enjoyable evening with ourselves.
Today, if you have purchased just general admission tickets, we have a limited amount of availability to upgrade to our RoofTerrace, which is one of our most popular places to view the racing. The RoofTerrace offers beautiful panoramic views of the track and has convenient access to the Rooftop bar and betting facilities. If you are interested in upgrading your ticket, please see a member of our helpful team at the customer service desk at the rear of the County Stand.
You will notice that in opposition to some of our larger weekend racedays, we have a limited bars that are open this evening, so if you would like a drink or refreshment throughout the evening, please head to the 1811 Bar as that is the main bar that is open tonight.
We have a number of exciting upcoming events at the racecourse in the near future. We are excited to welcome back the return of our Cider Racenight featuring the Wurzels on Saturday 17th August; in addition to our Country & Western Racenight on Saturday 14th September. Both of these events have availability in our Hospitality areas so please do check out our website to book.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our raceday employees for the sterling job they have done so far this season. I would like to especially thank one member of the team today, Alice Lanyon. Today is Alice’s final raceday, following the completion of her 15 week placement as part of her degree course at the Royal Agricultural University Alice has been invaluable during her time here, playing a great role in the office, answering phonecalls, helping planning and delivering events, and looking after sponsors on racedays. I would like to say a massive thank you to Alice and wish her all the best for the remainder of her studies on behalf of everyone at the racecourse.

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing
surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.
It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website www.bath-racecourse.co.uk.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
You must be 18 or over to place a bet
You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet
If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted 2BLUE HERO (CAN) (14) 501121

LEADING COURSE TRAINER (19-24): A Wintle (24 wins from 133 runners, 18%) runs BLUE HERO TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): C Johnston (10 wins from 85 runners, 12%) runs MADE IN CHINA
WEIGHTWATCHER: BLUE HERO won off a handicap mark of 62, his rating is now down 9lb to 53. LONGEST TRAVELLER: MADE IN CHINA trained by C Johnston, Middleham, 235 miles.
The handicapper has shown BLUE HERO mercy and the 6-y-o is taken to regain the winning thread. He registered the latest of his seven course wins off a 9lb higher mark last July and he has been shaping as though worth another try over this trip. The 3-y-os Honrado and Made In China rate the main dangers, with the former feared most with this step up in trip a possible catalyst for some improvement.
