Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
You must be 18 or over to place a bet

On behalf of everyone at Bath Racecourse, we would like to extend you a very warm welcome to our raceday today which is kindly being sponsored by Dragonbet.
We are set for a wonderful afternoon of racing, with a competitive set of races taking place throughout the day. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the team from today’s sponsors, Dragonbet who are kindly sponsoring five of our races today. Dragonbet have had a significant presence here at Bath Racecourse and are continuing their support with a further 4 meetings where they will be sponsoring. In addition, I would like to take the time to thank The Harrow Inn and the EBF for their support of our other races. I would like to thank all of our sponsors for their generosity, and wish them an enjoyable afternoon. We race again on Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th September when we have the finals of the very well received Bath Summer Series, which will see the Sprint & Stayers finals. These popular finals take place across the weekend with our Country & Western Racenight on Saturday 14th September and ourArmed Forces Day on Sunday 15th September. We still have individual day tickets, weekend tickets and limited hospitality options available so we do hope to welcome you back then. Tickets can be purchased on our website with a discount for booking in advance so head to www.bath-racecourse.co.uk to guarantee your place with ourselves at the weekend.
Recently we held a yard visit for ourAnnual Members at Neil Mulholland’s yard It gave our annual members to see Neil’s horses up close, see them on the gallops and hear about what goes into training horses from Neil himself. It was very well received by members and I would like to thank Neil and his team for hosting ourselves. Annual Membership gives access to all our racedays, along with reciprocal racedays at the vast majority of UK racecourses plus added benefits such as yard visits and access to our members facility. If you are interested in joining, we have half year memberships available on the website and out 2025 membership will go on sale in the Winter.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Owners and Trainers who have chosen to run their horses here at Bath throughout the season. Your continued support is greatly appreciated, and we wish you an enjoyable time here with us. On behalf of everyone at Bath Racecourse, we wish you luck both at today’s meeting in addition do all future fixtures, and we hope to welcome you back to Bath soon.
I hope you all have an enjoyable afternoon here at Bath, best of luck and we hope to welcome you back to another fixture before the end of the season.

We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.
