IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Abandonment Policy

In the event of a race meeting being abandoned after the first race has been run, no refund will be made in respect of admission charges and emergency admission tickets will be invalid.

Admission Policy

The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to, or expel any person from, the racecourse, without assigning a reason for so doing, and does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to persons or to their property.

Disabled Users

Free parking is available by the turnstiles for blue badge holders. For disabled visitors requiring a carer, the carer is admitted free of charge. There is disabled access to both restaurants and a variety of disabled toilets across the racecourse.

Dress Code

Racegoers are advised to wear attire suitable to the weather conditions, however patrons in the Premier Enclosure are requested not to wear sports shorts, ripped denim or football shirts. Shirts must be worn at all times in all enclosures.

Emergency Procedures for your safety

Should an incident occur which is beyond our control, it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced security staff to be located at various points throughout the Racecourse. This information is precautionary and we trust the procedures will not be needed. Please remember in the event of an emergency, to take your belongings with you and under the direction of Brighton Racecourse representatives, proceed quickly and quietly to the agreed area.

Horse Welfare Comes First at Brighton

The safety of horse and rider is of paramount importance to Brighton Racecourse. We have a team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting. It is policy at this racecourse for screens to be erected when a horse requires veterinary treatment on the track. This is to offer some privacy and calm for both horse and vet and does not automatically imply that a fatality has occurred. Equine care at Brighton is provided by the Equine Veterinary Hospital at Arundel. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website: www.brighton-racecourse.co.uk

Radios and Mobile Telephones

The use of all types of communication equipment is strictly controlled at all racecourses. Members of the public may not use two-way radios, scanning receivers etc., for any purpose at the racecourse. Mobile telephones may not be used in or near any designated betting area, or for offcourse betting purposes. Further details are available from the racecourse office.

Photography

Racegoers may take photographs for private purposes in the Grandstand & Paddock and Premier Enclosure. Under no circumstances may photographs taken on the Racecourse be used for publication. Flash photography is extremely dangerous where horses are involved and we kindly ask you not to use flash photography anywhere in the Paddock or near the Winners’ Enclosure.

Taxi

A complimentary telephone is available in the Racecourse Reception to book taxis. Alternatively, racegoers can call Streamline Taxis on 01273 202020. It is advisable to book as far in advance as possible to avoid any delay.

HBLB Prize Money

The Horserace Betting Levy Board General Prize Fund scheme provides £451,971 towards prize money at this racecourse in 2022.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

RACE SUMMARY Conquer comes from an in-form stable with a good record with their first-time out runners, however despite having conditions in his favour, he may just need this after two years off. Labwah, Belle Angelique and Aloof are lightly raced maidens who could easily improve on what they’ve shown to date, with the last two named attempting this extended 6 furlongs for the first time. BIN AL REEH has shown a preference for quick turf and is taken to progress from his recent third, dropped in class today.

RACE SPONSORSHIP AT BRIGHTON RACECOURSE Race sponsorship at Brighton Racecourse has many benefits and is one of the most cost effective ways of increasing awareness in the sporting arena. Advertise and heighten the profile of your business by using your company name in the race title. You can even have a series of races throughout the day, or entire season, and mention your company’s services or products in different races. Alternatively, you can personalise the race title to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or any other special occasion. RACE THREE

Why not keep up to date with all the latest news on our Facebook page. We would love to see your raceday photos throughout the day, so make sure you share these with us!

What is Club Betland? Betland started life as a simple tipping contest back in June 2020, essentially keeping ten friends entertained during the pandemic when we were unable to go racing. We designed a game that we liked to play, and refined the parameters as we went along. As racing fans first and foremost, it was the natural centrepiece for all of our games, based around the major festivals, from Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood on the flat to Cheltenham and Aintree over jumps.

An unaffiliated start up, we believed in the concept enough to invest time and money to create betland.live, which we are proud to be launching at Brighton today. Betland.live currently focuses on UK & Irish Racing, Premier League & Championship football, with plans to add other sporting highlights in future. The 2022 Flat Season includes 20 weeks of competition to win over £12,500 in guaranteed cash prizes, as well as a chance to win the top prize of an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the Breeders’ Cup 2022!

FOURTH RACE 3.20 ABOUT SEVEN FURLONGS (6F ABT 210YDS) FOR FOUR YRS OLD AND UPWARDS

THE CLUB BETLAND HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) Total race value £9850 x Owners Prize Money. 1st £3947, 2nd £1973, 3rd £987, 4th £493, 5th £240. (Penalty Value £4994.99) Weights lowered 2lb. SS

RACE STATS LEADING COURSE TRAINER (17-22): T Carroll (41 wins from 322 runners, 13%) runs REPARTEE TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): T Carroll (5 wins from 50 runners, 10%) runs REPARTEE LONGEST TRAVELLER: REPARTEE trained by T Carroll, Cropthorne, 175 miles. RACE SUMMARY It’s worth chancing CHIEF LITTLE HAWK, who hasn’t hit the target for a while but his efforts over 6f the last twice have been sufficiently encouraging to suggest that a race of this nature would be within his grasp now back up in trip. Touchwood is likely to be a warm order having found just one too good on each of his two starts on the all-weather since returning from a break and he is greatly respected, while Little Boy Blue should also have a significant part to play. 1-2-3: 1.CHIEF LITTLE HAWK (USA) 2.TOUCHWOOD (IRE) 3.LITTLE BOY BLUE KEY colours

RACE SUMMARY Assuming she’s ready to roll following a seven-month absence, WISPER will have strong prospects of making a winning debut for new connections. She was just touched off over this C&D on her final start of last season and remains on a feasible mark. The hat-trick seeking Victory Star is an obvious danger but, in truth, there’s little to choose between each member of the quartet, with Headshot and Starfighter also more than capable of going close. 1-2-3: 1.WISPER (IRE) 2.VICTORY STAR 3.HEADSHOT KEY colours

RACE SUMMARY FOR PEAT’S SAKE’s five runs on turf haven’t yielded success, but he is appealing here nonetheless off a reduced mark in a race which is not quite as competitive as those he is typically accustomed to. Kath’s Toyboy was a shade below par last time, but he’s pretty reliable on the whole and should be in the mix.
