Dress Code
Racegoers are advised to wear attire suitable to the weather conditions, however patrons in the Premier Enclosure are requested not to wear sports shorts, ripped denim or football shirts. Shirts must be worn at all times in all enclosures.
Emergency Procedures for your safety
Should an incident occur which is beyond our control, it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced security staff to be located at various points throughout the Racecourse. This information is precautionary and we trust the procedures will not be needed. Please remember in the event of an emergency, to take your belongings with you and under the direction of Brighton Racecourse representatives, proceed quickly and quietly to the agreed area.
Horse Welfare Comes First at Brighton
The safety of horse and rider is of paramount importance to Brighton Racecourse. We have a team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting. It is policy at this racecourse for screens to be erected when a horse requires veterinary treatment on the track. This is to offer some privacy and calm for both horse and vet and does not automatically imply that a fatality has occurred. Equine care at Brighton is provided by the Equine Veterinary Hospital at Arundel. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website: www.brighton-racecourse.co.uk
Radios and Mobile Telephones
The use of all types of communication equipment is strictly controlled at all racecourses. Members of the public may not use two-way radios, scanning receivers etc., for any purpose at the racecourse. Mobile telephones may not be used in or near any designated betting area, or for offcourse betting purposes. Further details are available from the racecourse office.
Photography
Racegoers may take photographs for private purposes in the Grandstand & Paddock and Premier Enclosure. Under no circumstances may photographs taken on the Racecourse be used for publication. Flash photography is extremely dangerous where horses are involved and we kindly ask you not to use flash photography anywhere in the Paddock or near the Winners’ Enclosure.
Taxi
A complimentary telephone is available in the Racecourse Reception to book taxis. Alternatively, racegoers can call Streamline Taxis on 01273 202020. It is advisable to book as far in advance as possible to avoid any delay.
HBLB Prize Money
The Horserace Betting Levy Board General Prize Fund scheme provides £451,971 towards prize money at this racecourse in 2022.
SPONSORS
The Brighton Racecourse Executive would like to thank our sponsors and wish them an enjoyable and prosperous day’s racing.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

RACE SUMMARY CAPPANANTY CON hasn’t got his head in front for a while and his strike rate on turf is hardly compelling, but he has performed well at this course on more than one occasion in the past and is the clear pick at the weights. RACE SUMMARY This race probably won’t take much winning and HUNTSMAN’S MOON could be the way to go. It wasn’t a particularly big step forward that he took when fifth on his handicap bow over a mile here three weeks ago, but it was a step forward nonetheless and he could take another now moving up in trip. On The Nose found just one too good over C&D last time and she should be in the mix once again, while Quartet is worth a second look, too. 1-2-3: 1.HUNTSMAN’S MOON (FR) 2.ON THE NOSE 3.QUARTET KEY colours

RACE SUMMARY SUGAR CANDIE failed to trouble the judge in three starts as a juvenile, but she now tackles a trip more commensurate with her pedigree and it will look significant if the market speaks in her favour. Thunderoad’s record suggests that he’s far from certain to be in the same form as he was when scoring at Chelmsford last time, but he’ll be a threat if he is again on-song, particularly with a soft lead likely.
