Star Ratings Explained
Br
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances)
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

RACE SUMMARY
HITCHED has gained both his career wins over 1m, and having shaped well until his stamina ebbed away over 10f at Ffos Las, he’s fancied to get right back on track here. Buy The Dip has a lower turf mark to exploit and seems sure to give it a bold showing, with Rivas Rob Roy always worth a second look over this C&D

A competitive contest despite the small field, with all having led or raced prominently in the past. At his peak, black type winning sprinter Storm Troupour was rated 113, however that was in 2018 and he disappointed here in a similar event last year. Hasn’t run in a tongue tie for 6 years, but that, plus a change of scene could make a difference. However, current ARO leading trainer James Owen is in such good form with his thoroughbreds (25% strike rate), that it would be foolish to overlook his two fillies, of which the unexposed VICTORIA makes most appeal.
