Abandonment Refund Admissions

If Racing is abandoned before the first race then a full refund or a transfer to another similar race meeting will be offered. If racing is abandoned before the 4th race then we will offer a 50% refund (this excludes Music Live race meetings, please see separate policy.) If racing is abandoned after the 4th race, then no refund will be offered (this excludes Music Live race meetings, please see separate policy.)

In the event a Music Live act cancels their performance, the Racecourse will seek to secure a replacement act to ensure music after racing is provided

In the event a Music Live act cannot be replaced, a partial refund will be issued dependent on the face value of the race day ticket. Chepstow Racecourse will provide customers with details of the value of the refund.

Parade Ring

This is an ideal opportunity for racegoers to see the horses close up and assess their attitude and fitness The horses begin to parade 15-20 minutes before their race, and this is a great chance to pick your horse.

Placing a Bet

The Racecourse Betting shop is situated in the Grandstand & Paddock enclosure. The bookmakers are located in the betting ring in front of the main Grandstand.

The Weighing Room

This is located opposite the Winning Post and all jockeys weigh out here before each race. Their weight, including their saddle, should corr with the weight shown in today’s racecard particular horse in that particular race. Once race is finished, the jockeys will weigh in and weight must be the same as when they started.

On racedays, four stewards ensure each race according to Jockey Club rules and regulations.

Winners Enclosure

After each race, the first four placed horses led into the Winners Enclosure where they ar unsaddled and the jockeys take the saddle weigh in. There are presentations by race sponsors to the connections of the winning on the winner’s podium.

Unauthorised Bookmaking

It is a condition of entry to this Racecourse that only individuals in possession of a valid betting badge and occupying an authorised pitch are entitled to lay bets on the course of their business. Any individual found contravening these conditions will be evicted.

Emergency Evacuation Procedure

“Due to circumstances beyond our control racing has had to be suspended, will you please evacuate the buildings by the emergency exits. You will be guided by members of the racecourse staff to specific assembly points, determined by which area you are in. Once there, please wait until the emergency services and/or racecourse staff tell you what to do”.

Please see the assembly points clearly marked on the map.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions

A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances) The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

RACE SUMMARY

Plenty of depth to this maiden hurdle with HENRI THE SECOND sure to be well prepared for this hurdles debut He looked very useful in bumpers around this time last year, and though amiss when last seen in April, he’s in top hands. Chianti Classico has a point and bumper win to his name and he looks the part, with Richhill another interesting recruit

RACE SUMMARY

ROSE OF ARCADIA combined with today’s rider Freddie Gingell to land a couple of points in the spring and is taken to make a successful return to hurdles off what looks a good mark on her best form. The prolific Gentle Connections will find this easier than the Persian War and is feared most ahead of handicap-debutante Mind Sunday.
