WELCOME

TO DONCASTER RACECOURSE

Good afternoon and welcome to Doncaster Racecourse for our Best of British Racenight. We hope you enjoy your day with us here at Town Moor and don’t rush home after racing as we have a live DJ in the Exhibition Hall straight after the last race. Our Style Spotters – the fabulous Ryan and Jaimie, will be out and about today searching for our Best Dressed Gent. Five qualifiers will be handed an envelope and will be invited into the Parade Ring after the 4th race where the judging will take place. Today’s winner will receive a Fast Track Pass to the final of the Best Dressed Gent competition at the Cazoo St Leger Festival Doncaster Cup Day on Friday, 9th September, a bottle of Prosecco and a pair of County Enclosure tickets! Look out for our raceday presenter Bobby Beevers and tipster Martin Higgs who will be in the Parade Ring at 4:10pm to run through today’s runners and riders. We have a fantastic line up of live music after racing this summer that you won’t want to miss; Shed Seven on 14th May, Kaiser Chiefs on 3rd June, Paloma Faith on 25th June, Nile Rodgers and Chic on 16th July and McFly on 13th August. Tickets are on sale now at www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk. Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

Having shaped well on debut, LIR SPECIALE was just denied at Kempton last time and, with potential still intact, he’s fancied to get off the mark at the third attempt. HORSE WELFARE COMES FIRST AT DONCASTER At every race meeting at Doncaster our top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting. Use of Screens It is our policy to erect green screens around any horse requiring veterinary attention. This does NOT reflect the severity of any injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse.

A trappy staying event in which a chance is taken on ZOFFEE being sparked by switch of yard/return to the Flat as he is well capable off this sort of mark if in the mood. Flint Hill did well on the Flat last year and a recent run over hurdles could have put him spot on for this so he’s put up as the chief threat.
