WELCOME

TO DONCASTER RACECOURSE

Hello and welcome to Doncaster Racecourse for our Summer Afternoon Raceday. We would like to thank our sponsors Air Centric and Premier Property Management for their continuous and most generous support. We have 7 races on the card and our raceday presenter Bobby Beavers and resident tipster Roger Hart will be in the Parade Ring at around 12:30pm to run through today’s runners and riders and hopefully pick you out some winners! Would you like to come racing for £1 and at the same time, raise money for a very worthy cause? On Thursday, 21st July we are proud to be hosting our Charity Race Evening in support of Doncaster Mind, Weston Park Cancer Charity and Yorkshire Air Ambulance. All tickets start at £1, and when you book your ticket online, you decide which of these local charities to donate your £1 to. Plus, Arena Racing Company will match the donation of whichever charity raises the most money! Book your tickets at www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk and help make a difference! On Saturday 16th July we welcome multiple Grammy-winning song-writer, producer, arranger and guitarist – Nile Rodgers & Chic to Town Moor, who will be firing up their classic hit machine for an evening of ‘Good Times’ that’s guaranteed to make ‘Everybody Dance’. Our final Live After Racing raceday is on Saturday 13th August with McFly – one of the best-loved British bands of the 21st century. On Saturday 30th July get ready to rock as we welcome Magic Queen to the stage after racing, at our Rock at the Races raceday. Magic Queen are one of the most dynamic and exciting Queen Tribute Bands in Europe and are sure to get you up on the dancefloor! Our flagship fixture, the Cazoo St Leger Festival takes place 7th – 10th September! The festival opens on Wednesday 7th September with the Cazoo Leger Legends Day – featuring the Leger Legends charity race for ex-professional jockeys. Thursday 8th September is Ladies Day – featuring the highly anticipated Style Awards and your chance to impress the judges with your outfit and win a whopping £500! Friday 9th September sees the return of the Cazoo Doncaster Cup – the oldest race currently run under the rules of British horseracing, which last year was won by Frankie Dettori on Stradivarius. Finally, the highlight of the four-day festival is Cazoo St Leger Day on Saturday, 10th September when we welcome visitors from all over the country to Town Moor to watch history in the making, with the final Classic of the revered British flat racing season – the Group 1 Cazoo St Leger Stakes - World’s oldest Classic! Tickets for all our upcoming racedays, events and Live After Racing Music Nights are available now at www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk. As always, our team here at Doncaster are committed to doing our very best to ensure you enjoy your day and we value any feedback you may have. We hope you have a great day! Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

HORSE WELFARE COMES FIRST AT DONCASTER At every race meeting at Doncaster our top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting. Use of Screens It is our policy to erect green screens around any horse requiring veterinary attention. This does NOT reflect the severity of any injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse!

ALVEDISTON has yet to taste success following eight attempts, but he returned to form when finishing third off a 1lb higher mark at Newmarket recently and he could be the answer to this open-looking handicap. Persian Royal wasn’t beaten far at Kempton last time and is feared with Harry Davies in the hot-seat, while the hat-trick seeking Darbucks and Bungley are others to consider.
