WELCOME
DONCASTER RACECOURSE
Hello and welcome to the first day of the Vertem Futurity Trophy at Doncaster Racecourse. We are delighted you’ve joined us here today.
We would like to thank our sponsors Vertem and EBF for their continuous and most generous support
We have a division so there are 8 races on the card today. Our raceday presenter Bobby Beevers and tipster Kevin Ackerman will be in the Parade Ring at around 12:35pm to run through the racecard and hopefully pick you out some winners!
There are only seven more fixtures this year and we hope you can join us! The Vertem Futurity Trophy Day tomorrow Saturday 22nd October, The Bet Goodwin November Handicap on Saturday 5th November, The Ice Cream Direct Raceday on Friday 25th November and the Beer Festival Raceday on Saturday 26th November, Festive Jumpers on Friday 9th and Bet365 Festive Jumpers on Saturday 10th December and our Festive Family Fun Raceday on Thursday 29th December. Tickets for all these fixtures are on sale now at www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk.
Speaking of ‘Festive’, Christmas is only 64 days away so if you’re looking for somewhere to host your Christmas party, Christmas Live is perfect for a fun-filled work Christmas do or simply for gathering your friends together for an unforgettable festive night out! You’ll enjoy a live cabaret show with incredible professional dancers, exquisite dining, entertainment village and casino, disco, and a ‘Survivors Breakfast’ at midnight! Plus, our New Year’s Eve Ball is back by popular demand on Saturday 31st December featuring live entertainment, champagne and canapes, a decadent four-course meal, and a live resident DJ to help you ring in the new year.
As always, our team here at Doncaster are committed to doing our very best to ensure you enjoy your day and we value any feedback you may have
We hope you have a great day!

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race.
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
TFRHHHHH BHA109
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

RACE SUMMARY
This looks to revolve around ALMUHIT, who was well backed and shaped much better than
when runner-up on return/handicap debut at Kempton last month, never nearer having been left poorly
further progress anticipated now stepping up in trip, he’s strongly fancied to come out on top. Traila looks
found just one too strong atYarmouth last month, with Dark Jedi rounding off the shortlist

RACE SUMMARY
FIRST OFFICER took a big step forward when scoring in good style from the front on debut for present connections at Nottingham. He appears to be versatile ground-wise and an 8lb rise in the weights may not be enough to prevent him from going in again with William Buick aboard. Lizzie Jean was flying too high in the St Leger but she has to be feared back in handicap company. Knight of Honour also enters calculations
