THE ULTIMATE ENDURANCE TEST
19 JUMPS | 3 MILES | 2 FURLONGS
Official Raceday Programme | £4
1.25pm- Ballygeary steps back in trip today to 2 miles for trainer Donald McCain. He won his maiden nicely last time out at Catterick over 2 ½ miles and sets the standard in this small runner field. Circus Act is an interesting alternative. The Irish raider was an easy winner in a maiden at Herford and poses the main danger to Ballygeary.
2.00pm- My Bad Lucy showed an improvement in form running over course and distance on good ground last time out. The bottom weight is likely still well handicapped off his current mark. There could be plenty of pace in this race however and a horse who could benefit from this pace is Everyday Champagne who steps back up in distance to 3 miles and good ground conditions should suit this previous course and distance winner
2.35pm- Minelladestination gets first time cheekpieces applied today and is likely to be prominent in the early pace of this Mares Handicap Hurdle Preference in this race however is for Pretending (NAP) who bumped into a couple of talented horses with potentially bright futures in a Juvenile Maiden Hurdle at Doncaster in December and ran a nice race in a Catterick Juvenile Hurdle last time out. At A Pinch should be suited by ground conditions and also has her claims today if able to defy conceding weight to the other mares.
3.10pm- Stylish Moment should be suited to this better ground. The Irish raider Scheu Time has been disappointing so far this season and his hard to fancy here today. Molineaux looks interesting returning from the point-to-point scene where he picked up a couple of wins last season but may need the run here after an eleven-month absence. A chance is taken with Hitman Fred who was not suited by the softer ground last time out and usually runs best on better ground conditions.
3.45pm- Ilovethenight won her maiden well at Ffos Las but her jumping last left her down since in Novice company. She still remains a danger however off a mark of 115. Moviddy won her maiden nicely, jumping well throughout. She can make the running if needed and good ground is likely not to be an issue for her I Am Gonna Be ran into a very good second place last time out at Musselburgh. The winner of that race has since won again and I Am Gonna Be is in with a big shout here.
4.20pm- A chance is taken here with Hawthorn Cottage. She was an impressive winner of a handicap chase at Warwick and ran a decent race in what looked like a fairly hot handicap last time out at Doncaster. Twotwothree is worth a market check after getting a wind operation done Mongol Emperor may be well handicapped off his revised mark of 113 but may need to find better form than what he produced last time out at Wincanton.
4.50pm- Seigneur Des As is back over hurdles, 9 days after winning a 3-mile handicap chase at Wincanton on good ground. The five-year-old has shown improvement in form for trainer Milton Harris since getting a wind-op Bradley Harris takes off 7lb to help with his chances of a quick fire double over fences and hurdles. Ailes D’Amour won an apprentice hands and heels handicap on good ground at Warwick last time out and is well handicapped here today. A big run is expected from Ailes D’Amour but slight preference is for the top weight Seigneur Des As.
