Virgin Bet Race Preview
1.00pm- Champagne Town makes his first start for the Kevin Frost yard having previously been trained in Ireland by Gavin Cromwell. He has not been seen in eleven months however and may need the run however on his season reappearance. Gentle Frank made a notable improvement when last seen over course and distance in January and should run a big race here. Park Hill Dancer was disappointing last time out but raced very freely that day. A change is taken on Park Hill Dancer to bounce back to form with the hope that he settles better today.
1.30pm- Calico ran a very good race against Jonbon last time out. A mark of 137 could be more than fair for the Dan Skelton horse Mackenberg should be suited by good ground but his jumping left him down last time out and it is opposed today. Gold Des Bois ran a huge race on good ground at Doncaster in January but was well beaten by Pay The Piper who he meets gain today. Pay The Piper will carry top weight but remains a danger and is the tentative pick to follow up from his recent victory at Musselburgh.
2.05pm- Mr Freedom should go well on ground conditions and the fouryear-old is likely still unexposed off 120 Sergeant Wilson was an impressive winner of a maiden hurdle at Fakenham last month. The 3rd horse in that race was since won. Sergeant Wilson may try to make all the running from the front here and a mark of 112 seems fair
2.40pm- She’s A Saint sets a good standard here in this Listed Mares’ Novices Hurdle over 3 miles. She was no match for the impressive You Wear It Well last time out at Sandown but this looks an easier task for her today presuming she get the extra distance today and having won a point-to-point, she is expected to handle the step up in trip. Apple Away was an impressive winner last time out at Ayr and a big run is expected again today.
3.15pm- Cooper’s Cross won a competitive handicap over 3 miles last time out at Doncaster on good ground. He steps up another 2 furlongs in trip but that is unlikely to be a problem for him. Does He Know is another horse who will be suited by today’s trip and good ground. He poses the main danger to Cooper’s Cross. A reproduction of his race at the Cheltenham November meeting would see him go close here today if he can defy carrying top weight.
3.50pm- Snipe looks unexposed and the Dan Skelton horse is likely to be prominent on the pace and can follow on from his maiden hurdle win at Ffos Las last time out. Theme Tune is going for his 3rd win on the bounce and it’s possible that he is still ahead of the handicapper although he may want more ease in the ground. Bumpy Johnson got back to winning ways last time out at Ffos Las and a big run is expected again today off a feasible mark of 117 There may be a question mark over if he will get todays longer trip however
4.25pm- Give Me A Cuddle is a course and distance winner. He disappointed last time out at Taunton however and others may be preferred today. Fringill Dike has been dropped 2lb in the weights and is potentially off a nice mark for Jedd O’Keefe with Emma Smith-Chaston taking off 3lb also
5.00pm- Willmount looks the one they all have to beat in the bumper He was an impressive 13 length winner over course and distance in January and is hard to oppose here today. The market may provide clues for the debutant runners in the field. Broomhill Road looks nicely bred and makes most appeal of the rest

The vote goes to GALAHAD THREEPWOOD, who was in the process of mounting a strong challenge when unseating his rider 3 out in the C&D handicap won by Good Bye in January.
