TIMEFORMVIEWImpressive when scoring by a wide margin on his debut at Nottingham and had no trouble following up in 10.2f novice at Newcastle. Took form to another level when narrow winner of Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot. Not disgraced back down in trip when fourth in Grand Prix de Paris and this test will suit.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race.

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): D O’Meara (13 wins from 60 runners, 22%) runs SPEEDACUS

WEIGHTWATCHER: SPEEDACUS won off a handicap mark of 80, his rating is now down 8lb to 72.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: BEAU ROC trained by G Boughey, Newmarket, 128 miles.

The one who makes most appeal is BURJ MALINKA. A good third in a race that worked out well over C&D in April, he’s largely remained in form since and this return to the minimum trip could be just the ticket operating from his last winning mark. Bath scorer Beau Roc is a threat with a repeat, whilst it would come as no surprise to see a better showing from Speedacus back from 5 weeks off.

NOTHING IS MORE PRECIOUS THAN TIME...

The Children’s Air Ambulance helicopters complete journeys 4x faster than those taken by road, reducing the risk of further complications and helping to save lives.

The aircrafts contain enhanced technical equipment needed to safely transfer patients to receive the vital care they need, or if our patients are too sick to travel, the Children’s Air Ambulance take the specialist teams and equipment to them

Donations, however small, could help save a child’s life. For more information about the charity or to find out how you can help please visit:

RACE SUMMARY

GAME SET is the one here who could prove better than a handicapper The only 3-y-o in the field and a winner over C&D on debut, he should prove more than a match for his rivals and can remain unbeaten. Sir Thomas Gresham looks the main danger, ahead of the admirable Maywake.
