Doncaster Racecard - Saturday 3rd August

Page 1

Good afternoon and welcome to our penultimate fixture in the Summer Saturday Series - This is Tennessee featuring One Night in Nashville.

We would like to thank our sponsor UNISON for their generous support of today’s fixture Our raceday presenter Bobby Beevers and tipster Martin Higgs will be in the Parade Ring at around 1.50pm to run through today’s racecard with you and hopefully pick out some winners

Don’t miss the Line Dancing Classes on the Champagne Lawn before racing You’ll be scootin’, scuffin’, slidin’ and stompin’ to all your favourite country hits Then dance the night away to the UK’s No 1 Nashville experience! Featuring the biggest modern and classic country icons such as Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton and so many more! One Night in Nashville will be performing for 90 minutes after the last race

We hope you can join us for our final fixture in the Summer Saturday Series - a Taylor Swift Tribute raceday on 17th August. Sing along to your favourite songs, from “Love Story” to “Shake It Off” and everything in between, as our tribute artist, Kaylie, takes to the stage and channels Taylor’s unmistakable charm.

Our flagship fixture, the Betfred St Leger festival is just 6 weeks away, taking place on the 12th – 15th September and is the highlight of Doncaster’s social calendar. This four-day festival features the World’s oldest Classic – the Betfred St Leger stakes. Tickets are available now at www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk.

As always, our team here at Doncaster are committed to doing our absolute best to ensure you enjoy your day and we value any feedback you may have

Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race.

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
