LADIES DAY

T

Good afternoon and welcome to our final fixture in the Summer Saturday Series -Taylor Swift Tribute - featuring Kaylie.

We would like to thank our sponsors Believe Money and EBF for their generous support of today’s fixture Our raceday presenter Bobby Beevers and resident tipster Roger Hart will be in the Parade Ring at around 1.35pm to run through today’s racecard with you and hopefully pick out some winners.

Make sure you stop by the Exhibition Hall today and meet John Altman – an English actor and singer, perhaps best known for playing Nick Cotton in the popular BBC soap opera Eastenders. He was among the show’s original cast members appearing in the very first episode in February 1985. His character was killed off in the 30th anniversary episode of the show which aired in February 2015 Altman also appeared in several films, television series and stage productions and is here today raising money for Help for Heroes

You can also make Friendship Bracelets in the Exhibition Hall and we’re selling sparkly Cowboy Hats at Guest Servies – only £5! Make sure you get yours before they sell out! Please make sure all children under 18 are accompanied by an adults at all times.

Then, Shake it off in Style and dance the night away on the Champagne Lawn as Kaylie performs some of your favourite Taylor Swift classics Tonight, Town Moor becomes an Enchanted Wonderland for every Swifties Wildest Dreams, a set that will be Bigger Than The Whole Sky. So don’t be thinking Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve and get yourself down to the Champagne Lawn around 6:10pm for a Love Story that will Hit Different! Sing along to your favourite songs as our tribute artist, Kaylie, takes to the stage and channels Taylor’s unmistakable charm. The show will finish around 7:25pm

Our next fixture is our flagship fixture, the Betfred St Leger Festival which is less than four weeks away, taking place on the 12th – 15th September. This four-day festival is the highlight of Doncaster’s social calendar and features the World’s oldest Classic – the Betfred St Leger Stakes. The festival kicks off with Betfred Ladies Day on Thursday 12th, featuring our popular Style Awards with £1000 cash prize up for grabs and JLS star, Marvin Humes playing a DJ set live on our Champagne Lawn after racing! Friday 13th sees the return of the Betfred Doncaster Cup featuring the oldest race currently run under the rules of horseracing and Onside Britpop performing live after racing The feature day is Betfred St Leger Day on Saturday 14th September, with live entertainment throughout the day and The Ultimate Party Band performing on the Champagne Lawn after racing The final day of the festival in St Leger Sunday Funday with a whole host of entertainment and activities for all ages Tickets are available now at www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk.

Star

Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race.

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

At every race meeting at Doncaster our top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and rider We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting.

Use of Screens
