Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH HHHHI HHHII HHIII HIIII

Selected to win the race. Good chance of being placed. By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims. Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

There may only be 3 runners but this promises to be a cracker. KNICKERBOCKERGLORY has the demeanour and athleticism to prove just as good a chaser as hurdler so he’s fancied to come out on top. Easy As That has been off the track a long time so Soaring Glory is preferred to Venetia Williams’ charge for second place. 1-2-3: 1.KNICKERBOCKERGLORY (IRE) 2.SOARING GLORY (IRE) 3.EASY AS THAT (IRE) KEY colours

RACE SUMMARY PHANTOM GETAWAY doesn’t do much quickly, but Kim Bailey’s 5-y-o showed a fairly useful level of ability in 3 novice hurdle starts last term and looks on a fair opening mark, so can make a winning handicap debut with conditions likely to suit. Colonel Manderson and Paricolor can complete the placings. 1-2-3: 1.PHANTOM GETAWAY (IRE) 2.COLONEL MANDERSON (FR) 3.PARICOLOR (FR) KEY colours

Evacuation Procedures

If an incident occurs which is beyond our control, it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. As part of our Safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced stewards and you will see them at various points throughout the racecourse. In the event of a situation, which requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards. The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. Should it be necessary to evacuate the course itself, there will be two main options; firstly to return to your vehicles if safe to do so and leave via the main entrance. Secondly, should it not be safe to return to your vehicles, you will be requested to leave via emergency evacuation gates, onto the racecourse itself, where you will receive further instructions.

It may give you peace of mind if you pre plan and agree a meeting place, just in case you become separated from your party. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember; • Take your belongings with you. • Under the directions of the stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.
