Evacuation Procedures
If an incident occurs which is beyond our control, it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency.
As part of our Safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced stewards and you will see them at various points throughout the racecourse. In the event of a situation, which requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards
The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area Should it be necessary to evacuate the course itself, there will be two main options; firstly to return to your vehicles if safe to do so and leave via the main entrance
Secondly, should it not be safe to return to your vehicles, you will be requested to leave via emergency evacuation gates, onto the racecourse itself, where you will receive further instructions.
It may give you peace of mind if you pre plan and agree a meeting place, just in case you become separated from your party. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember;
• Take your belongings with you.
• Under the directions of the stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.
Glasses & Bottles
Broken glasses and bottles are dangerous. In the interests of safety and the comfort of others please do not carry drinks or food on to the steppings of the stand, or the areas adjacent to the parade ring or unsaddling enclosure. Our catering team can transfer your drink into a plastic glass if you wish
Horse & Jockey Welfare
It is policy at this racecourse for screens to be erected in circumstances where we have any horse, or jockey in a condition whereby treatment is being administered and a degree of privacy is deemed appropriate The use of screens does not therefore automatically infer that a fatality has occurred
To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy please visit our website: www.ffoslasracecourse.com
Photography
Racegoers may take photographs for private purposes. Under no circumstances may photographs taken on the racecourse be used for publication without the permission of the racecourse executive Flash photography is essentially dangerous where horses are involved You are asked not to use flash photography anywhere in the parade ring area and particularly near the Winners Enclosure.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race
HHHHI Good chance of being placed
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
You must be 18 or over to place a bet
You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet

S Br
Good evening, and welcome to our Second Ascona Group Race Night at Ffos Las Racecourse.
It’s been an amazing Flat racing season so far at Britain’s newest racecourse, during which we’ve seen some really exciting racing and tonight will be no exception.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all the Owners and Trainers for their continuing support of the racecourse, and also not forgetting the superb Grounds and Operations teams here who keep the racecourse in such great condition despite the recent challenging conditions.
Tonight is going to be a very special evening .Its great to see local companies being successful on a national stage, especially when you know how hard they have worked to achieve this. The Ascona Group since its launch in 2011 is clearly leading the way as one of the UK’s leading forecourt retailers, ranked 8th in the Top 50 Independents in the UK and selling over 4 million litres of fuel a week, and despite having outlets all over the UK prides itself of being based in Pembrokeshire
Ffos Las Racecourse would like to thank Ascona’s Founder and Managing Director Darren Briggs and team Ascona for their continuing support of the Racecourse, and we hope you have another special race night to remember
Looking forward we have some great race days coming up over the School Holidays with Ladies Day on the 25th August where James Argent (that’s Arg from TOWIE ) and his band will perform live , the Million Dollar Men will be with us again on stage after racing and it all starts off with the “Legendary” Tina Sparkles on stage at 12 noon Trust me it will certainly be a day to remember!
Also on Friday September 1st we have our Second Prostate Cymru Race Night , which was superb last year, and £4 of every ticket sold will go to this very worthy cause, Helping save the Males in Wales. Just visit ffoslas-racecourse.co.uk to book your tickets.
Also please remember apart from Ladies Day you can now bring picnics into the racecourse over the summer , to really enjoy a great family day out. Check our Website for more details
Finally thank you all for supporting your local racecourse , and always remember “You really can’t beat a great day out at the races!”

It could be worth taking a chance on French import LUNANERA, who makes his British/handicap debut on what is probably a fair opening mark. Thewaytothestars did the job well at Windsor on Monday and she will be a big threat if turned out again quickly in search of the hat-trick. HAVE A RACE
IN YOUR VERY OWN NAME!!!
Did you know you could celebrate a special occasion with a race named after a friend or relative – for example
‘The John and Joan 40th Wedding Anniversary Maiden Stakes’ or ‘The John Smith 30th Birthday Handicap Stakes’.
It’s a great way to enjoy a day out with brilliant memories and you can combine it with hospitality in a private suite or a meal in the restaurant. You can come down to the Parade Ring and choose the ‘Best Turned Out’ horse and also present a prize to the winning owner before enjoying a post-race glass of bubbly. The package also includes photographs of your day and a mention in the racecard and on the big screen.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: MARGARET’S FUCHSIA trained by G Kelleway, Newmarket, 271 miles.
FIFTY YEAR STORM can be expected to step up on her belated reappearance spin on the all-weather and, judged on what she showed in two starts as a juvenile, there should be handicaps to be won with her off this sort of mark. Next on the list is Starproof, who was disappointing at Lingfield last time but is well worth another chance given the decisive nature of her victory at the same course eight days earlier Margaret’s Fuchsia can edge out handicap debutant Stryder for minor honours

Though winless following 23 attempts in this sphere, NUSRA would have every chance of belatedly opening her account if able to reproduce the form of her effort at Limerick in April where she went close in a 15-runner handicap off this mark.
