No more fuss - take the bus
If you are coming racing at Fontwell Park by train don’t forget we operate a bus service for the nearest station at Barnham at a cost of £4 return. The bus service starts two hours before the first race and operates a shuttle service to the course. There are return journeys after racing. The bus drops customers off in the main car park and leaves for Barnham from the same point after the last race. For further details call the racecourse office on 01243 543335.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HIIII Can be given little or no chance. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted
Brenda with AP and our winner No No Bingo
In loving memory of Brenda Jenner. A loving mother and friend to all. Brenda was a great fan of racing, particularly at Fontwell as she only lived a couple of miles away. She was a regular visitor being part of the No No Race Horses, who we have had run and win here at Fontwell. She would be immensely proud to be here today with so many friends and family. She will always be in our hearts and thoughts. A huge thank you to everyone supporting us with generous donations and especially to Mike & Rita of Vetlab Supplies who couldn’t be here today but generously donated to Brenda’s memorial.

This can go to ROGER POL, who made an encouraging start in this sphere at Newton Abbot earlier this month and looks sure to benefit from the step up in trip. Sun Joy is the likeliest danger on debut for new connections, whilst Goodwin and Geezer Rocks appeal most from an interesting bunch of hurdling debutants. 1-2-3: 1.ROGER POL (IRE) 2.SUN JOY (FR) 3.GOODWIN (IRE) KEY colours

Plenty in with a squeak but the vote goes to KANSAS DU BERLAIS, who disappointed when sent off favourite in a competitive handicap at Sandown back in April but can get back on track having won twice at this venue prior. Issam got off the mark for current connections when last seen at Exeter in the spring and having won on his 2022 return, he may emerge as the main danger. The in-form Mr Freedom is likely to run well again and can fill out third.

COMMITMENT TO HORSE WELFARE We are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries and maintaining the highest level of care. At every meeting there are three specially qualified Equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action. A British Horseracing Authority Veterinary Officer is also in attendance working closely with the racecourse veterinary team. This is to ensure that any injury to a horse is recorded, so that it can be monitored when it returns to racing. It is now a standard practice for screens to be erected around any horse receiving veterinary attention on the course. This does not reflect the severity of an injury, but allows the vet some privacy in which to administer treatment and provides the horse with a calmer environment. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website:
