LEADING COURSE TRAINER (19-24): C Gordon (26 wins from 185 runners, 14%) runs CONFINENTIC and ELECTRIC MASON TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): E Williams (3 wins from 32 runners, 9%) runs KLIC BOUM LONGEST TRAVELLER: DON’T CHEDDAR TEAR trained by G Howell, Tenbury Wells, 169 miles.

Bumper-winners ELECTRIC MASON and Laurens Bay showed enough on their respective debut in this sphere to think they will be winning races sooner rather than later, with marginal preference for the Chris Gordon inmate. Ami Bondhu is also open to progress so needs considering.

WEIGHTWATCHER: JACK DOYEN won off a handicap mark of 90, his rating is now down 7lb to 83. LONGEST TRAVELLER: SAMAZUL trained by B Pauling, Naunton, 150 miles.

SAMAZUL impressed with how he jumped/travelled when making a winning chase debut here (17.8f) 16 days ago. He promises to do better still judged by the manner of that success and makes plenty of appeal back up in trip. Sir Rock, with a reappearance run over hurdles behind him, and Call Off The Dogs, who has landed 3 of his last 4 starts here, can provide chief resistance.

The 5-timer beckons for DOUBLE POWERFUL, who made mincemeat of another field of low-grade handicappers at Worcester last month and Neil Mulholland’s 5-y-o is taken to defy a hefty 14lb rise at the expense of Jilaijone, who remains without a win since his British debut (at this track) but ran creditably on his recent return at Cheltenham. French-recruit Kissman, who changed hands for €125,000 in July, rounds off the shortlist.
