WELCOME & MEET THE TEAM

Welcome to Newcastle Racecourse for the social highlight of the year, the Collingwood Insurance Beeswing Ladies Day. My thanks go to Collingwood Insurance for their continued generous sponsorship of Ladies Day. I would like to wish their Directors, Management and guests an enjoyable and successful day of racing. I would also like to extend my thanks to The European Breeders’ Fund for sponsoring on today’s card. We have a wonderful day of racing ahead, with the feature race being the historic Collingwood Learner Driver Insurance ‘Beeswing’ Handicap Stakes, named after one of the greatest female racehorses of all time, and a regular victor of the greatest races at Newcastle Racecourse in the 1800s. Today we also host the national Silk Series, which is a race competed by only lady jockeys, showcasing female jockey talent and staged in support of Cancer Research UK. Good luck to all the contestants competing for the winning title of the Style Awards, we look forward to the finalists judging after the third race in the Winners Enclosure. We hope you also enjoy Jess Glynne’s set LIVE after racing, renowned for her euphoric live shows it promises to be a chart-busting celebration to remember. A strict traffic management system is in place today, please follow directional signage and police instructions to ensure a safe and comfortable journey from the racecourse this evening. The free shuttle bus service will be running after racing until 9.00pm, leaving from Goals Soccer Centre car park and dropping off at Regent Centre and Four Lane Ends Metro Stations, with some buses going direct to Aveika located on the quayside who are hosting our OFFICIAL ladies day after-party. From the team and myself here at Newcastle Racecourse, we wish you all an enjoyable and successful day at the racecourse.Good luck! Paul Elliott EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

LIAMARTY DREAMS sets a clear standard on the form he has shown at both Carlisle and Nottingham. He should be able to progress to shed his maiden tag at the third time of asking. A very open fillies’ handicap and MISS NAY NEVER is taken to add to her good C&D record. She rarely runs a bad race and has won twice on this surface. She ran a huge race at Haydock earlier in the month and could have more to come. Astrozone is a dual C&D winner and she can’t be ruled out either. Soapys Sister is lightly raced and she may improve again from her Hamilton win off a 3lb higher mark.

POUND OFF YOU hasn’t had much racing but she ran well in a competitive Wetherby handicap last month and she’s run well over C&D in the past. She’s chanced to shed her maiden tag here. Sezina should appreciate this trip more than the 10f he raced over here last time and he looks to be a big danger. Robeam has each-way claims too.

RACE STATS LEADING COURSE TRAINER (16-21): R Fahey (94 wins from 745 runners, 13%) runs ARADOUS TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): R Fahey (7 wins from 67 runners, 10%) runs ARADOUS LONGEST TRAVELLERS: ONESMOOTHOPERATOR trained by D Simcock & JEBEL DUKHAN trained by Sir M Prescott, Newmarket, 241 miles. RACE SUMMARY

ONESMOOTHOPERATOR admittedly didn’t find much when it came to the crunch in a C&D novice last time, but he chased home a couple of decent types that day and it was just his second career start. David Simcock’s charge is appealing off what looks a fair mark for this handicap bow. It’s not hard to pick holes in all seven of his rivals, with Weather Front and Jebel Dukhan perhaps the pick of them.
