RACE SUMMARY
A host in with chances in this feature contest but it could pay to side with MONSIEUR LAMBRAYS. Tom Clover’s charge went like the best horse at the weights when finishing a close third at Nottingham last month and he gets the vote to open his account for the year with Jack Mitchell back on board. Spanish Kiss, Margaret Dumont and Stargazer head up the possible dangers in that order. 1-2-3: 1.MONSIEUR LAMBRAYS 2.SPANISH KISS 3.MARGARET DUMONT (IRE) KEY colours

LONGEST TRAVELLER: MUSHIRIF trained by R Varian, Newmarket, 241 miles. RACE SUMMARY
MUSHIRIF and Night Moment, seperated by a neck when second and fourth respectively in a messy affair at Newbury recently, could be the pair to concentrate on in a race where the majority have questions to answer. Roger Varian’s charge is taken to confirm the placings with Night Moment, given that he is proven on tapeta and has lower mileage than that rival. Haveyoumissedme is third choice.

The market may well prove a useful guide in what looks a tricky nursery but CLAIM TO FAME did at least show more than previously on his nursery debut over 6f at Catterick 12 days ago, coming from a long way back, and he could be the answer now tackling 7f. HORSE WELFARE Here at Newcastle Racecourse nothing matters more to us than looking after the horses that make us the North East’s Premier Racecourse. We do everything in our power to ensure that we provide a racing surface of the highest quality and we take every conceivable care to minimise the chances of horses incurring any injury whilst here. Regrettably, as in any highly competitive sport, there are occasions when something goes wrong and horses have to be given the very best veterinary care. There are three Veterinary Surgeons here today to ensure that should any horse need help they will be attended to within seconds of any incident occurring. Their first priority is to make a rapid diagnosis and to help them do this our groundstaff team will erect screens around any horse that needs attention. Once the diagnosis is made, one of our horse ambulances will attend the scene and will transport the horse back to the stables where further treatment and assessment can be undertaken. Occasionally, it may be that the nature of the injury is such that a horse is unable to make a recovery. If this is the case the Veterinary team may take the decision to put the horse down straight away. In these circumstances we should remember that the horse’s welfare comes first and that this option is kindest for the horse. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy please visit our website www.newcastle-racecourse.co.uk

LONGEST TRAVELLER: BONNIE BANJO trained by J Mackie, Church Broughton, 170 miles. RACE SUMMARY TRIPLE JAYE arrives at the top of her game so looks the way to go in her attempt to complete a quick hat-trick after her impressive Musselburgh success. In-form top weight Aleef rates the chief threat, although Due A Win is also weighted to have a big say if bringing his A-game after a break. 1-2-3: 1.TRIPLE JAYE 2.ALEEF (IRE) 3.DUE A WIN KEY colours
