RACE SUMMARY
Stepping up to 7f promises to suit ROYAL CAY, who showed clear signs that he’s getting the hang of things when fourth at Haydock last month, form which has since been boosted by both the winner and second He makes his nursery debut off an appealing mark and is of strong interest. Good Gracious merits respect for the William Haggas yard but if Lady Manyara is able to get back on track (showed distinct promise on her penultimate start) she could prove most troublesome

RACE SUMMARY
OAHU is likely to benefit from a stiffer test in time but he is nevertheless the one to beat here on the back of a highly creditable effort in the valuable Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy. Global Effort and Vixey should both pick up a race before long but Jack of Clubs, who shaped well on debut at Ripon, and likely-looking newcomer Dream Mission rate the main dangers

HORSE WELFARE
Here at Newcastle Racecourse nothing matters more to us than looking after the horses that make us the North East’s Premier Racecourse We do everything in our power to ensure that we provide a racing surface of the highest quality and we take every conceivable care to minimise the chances of horses incurring any injury whilst here.
Regrettably, as in any highly competitive sport, there are occasions when something goes wrong and horses have to be given the very best veterinary care.
There are three Veterinary Surgeons here today to ensure that should any horse need help they will be attended to within seconds of any incident occurring. Their first priority is to make a rapid diagnosis and to help them do this our groundstaff team will erect screens around any horse that needs attention. Once the diagnosis is made, one of our horse ambulances will attend the scene and will transport the horse back to the stables where further treatment and assessment can be undertaken.
Occasionally, it may be that the nature of the injury is such that a horse is unable to make a recovery. If this is the case the Veterinary team may take the decision to put the horse down straight away In these circumstances we should remember that the horse’s welfare comes first and that this option is kindest for the horse.

RACE SUMMARY
RAMPAGE probably would’ve made a winning handicap bow at Thirsk in July but for residual greenness and he is taken to go one better here. It’s likely that he will have most to fear from Vindobala, who took a step firmly back in the right direction when hitting the crossbar off this mark over C&D last week Timbukone is third choice, while Otto Oyl and Thrave both make some each-way appeal, too.

RACE SUMMARY
SEE MY BABY JIVE was only just edged out on the line over C&D recently and might be able to go one better if in similar form here. Babe Alicious has 2 wins and 2 seconds to show for her last 5 starts so she’s a must for the shortlist. Epeius returns to a venue where he’s enjoyed plenty of success down the years and may prove best of the rest
