Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

Runswick Days won The Santander In Memory of Robert Forster Handicap Steeple Chase at Sedgefield on Tuesday 11th November 2014.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

WELCOME & MEET THE TEAM

Welcome back to Sedgefield Racecourse. The team and I are excited to welcome you to Sedgefield Racecourse today. Firstly, we have some sad news to share as Roxyfet has passed away at the age of 13, just eight months after he retired. The Sedgefield legend has an article dedicated to him in this race programme, and we have honoured him today with a race named after him. Our thoughts are with all involved. I would like to thank our sponsors today – Paxtons and Betting Sites Ltd. Today we have 7 races on the card. We open and close with a Handicap Hurdle while a Maiden Hurdle, 3 Handicap Chases and a Juvenile Hurdle will also be taking place. I like the look of race 4 at 2.00pm with a competitive field of class 5 horses. Those of you who will be having a bet, I wish you good luck in picking the winner. I will be out and about so please if you see me, want to have a chat, say hello or give me some feedback, please feel free to do so. I would like to get to know you and what we, as a team, can do to enhance your Raceday experience here at Sedgefield. Festive racing - We still have limited tickets available for all areas for the December 8th meeting while Marquee and General Admission tickets can still be purchased for Boxing Day. If you wish to join us, please visit www.sedgefield-racecourse.co.uk. to make your booking. See you then. Our sixth raceday of the season is on Tuesday 28th November. Why not come along to watch an afternoon of racing? I am looking forward to seeing you for another exciting day at Sedgefield Racecourse. Enjoy your day racing from all the team. PORT OR STARBOARD doesn’t have the best of strike rates, but he very rarely doesn’t give his running and that could go a long way in this field, so he looks the most solid option. Attention All proved a bit disappointing after making a successful start over hurdles at Newcastle, but he still has time on his side so can’t be written off, while El Jefe arrives in good heart and ought to be in the shake-up again.

Roxyfet

Roxyfet was one of the toughest horses to ever race out of Oakwood Stables. He ran his last race at the age of 13 at Sedgefield on March 14th, staying on to finish fourth after his ageing legs couldn’t go the early pace. It was fitting that Roxyfet should finish his racing days at Sedgefield as that was his 42nd appearance at the track. As well as claiming nine victories, he also finished second at that track 10 times, and third twice, making him a Sedgefield legend.
