HOWARD DONALD DJ SET LIVE AFTER RACING

Official Raceday Programme & Form Guide | £3 . 5 0

WELCOME

Welcome to our 2022 Bresbet Ladies Night and a special welcome today to our sponsors, Bresbet, Low Cost Roofing Stoke and Steel Beams, Derby

As ever, this evening, we will be running our very popular Style Awards which have been kindly sponsored by Hoar Cross Hall. Hoar Cross Hall Spa and Hotel is set in a 19th century country mansion and is located just a short drive from the racecourse. It really is a luxurious setting and I would highly recommend it for a special treat. The style awards has prizes for the top 5 outfits picked out by our judges. Head up to the flower wall near the office to enter for a chance to get your hands on one of our many prizes including the first prize of £500 plus champagne and flowers After racing head down to the grandstand to watch a 90 min DJ set from Take That legend Howard Donald. Take that were a phenomenal boy band who came together in 1990 and wacked up an impressive 12 number one hits with their first being nearly 30 years ago!! Howard has recently turned his hand to being a DJ and I’m sure he will be great entertainment for you all this evening. We quickly turn around this fixture for our next meeting on Sunday which is our Burton Albion Family Funday. There will be lots of entertainment to for the family including a fairground, inflatables, crazy golf and classic British entertainment shows. Sunday also marks the end of our busy summer racing calendar, when we have a 5 week break, which will give us valuable time for us to give the track a rest and allow us to do some essential maintenance work. It’s been a busy couple of months at the racecourse with us also hosting multiple events including conferences, proms and the magnificent Staffordshire Balloon Festival, which took over the Staffordshire skyline with over 40 balloons. I would like to thank all of my team for their hard work and commitment during this time and hope that they all enjoy a well-deserved break in the coming weeks. Good luck to you all today. STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: ‘‘‘‘‘ Selected to win the race. ‘‘‘‘• Good chance of being placed. ‘‘‘•• By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims. ‘‘••• Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. ‘•••• Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non handicap races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

AGENT SAONOIS saw off a shorter-priced stablemate over this C&D last week, and given he was out of the weights on that occaasion, he’s effectively 2lb lower here. The follow-up therefore may well be forthcoming, with Ranco and Balearic feared most.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: DEFI D’OUDAIRIES trained by D Pipe, Wellington, 174 miles.

RACE SUMMARY

DEFI D’OUDAIRIES is leniently treated on his French chasing form and, from a lower hurdling mark, he ran a cracker when just touched off at Newton Abbot on Sunday, so he’s worth a chance to go one better in the hope that the race doesn’t come too soon. College Oak has clicked in blinkers lately, so he’s feared most, with For Jim also on the radar having bounced back over C&D last time.

RACE SUMMARY

BAREST OF MARGINS shaped well on his first go over fences when runner-up at Market Rasen and can go one better now, with that form having been franked and improvement very much on the cards. Goaheadwiththeplan also made a promising chasing debut when second over C&D and is feared most, although in-form duo Koi Dodville and Begoodtoyourself both need factoring in too in a very open handicap.
