STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
ëëëëë Selected to win the race
ëëëëê Good chance of being placed
ëëëêê By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.
ëëêêê Unlikely to win but not totally without hope
ëêêêê Can be given little or no chance
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances) The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non handicap races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

A few in with chances but KILTA made the perfect start over fences (from 12lb out of the weights) when scoring at Cartmel last week so, with improvement on the cards, Sam England’s charge is fancied to follow up under a penalty at the expense of Get Up Mush, who makes his chase debut/reappearance for the red-hot Skelton team. Charity Walk around Uoxeter Racecourse
Cheadle and District Foodbank has been supporng its clients now for 10 years and to celebrate our 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY and to raise much needed funds, 20 supporters will today undertake a 10k walk around the racecourse prior to the first race. One of our long standing community supporters, Marchington Community Shop, another volunteer led organisaon serving the local people, is teaming up with us and will also benefit from the fundraiser.
As a registered charity, which is wholly run by volunteers, we service a client base that not only encompasses Cheadle but also all the neighbouring villages, Uoxeter, Marchington, Blythe Bridge and out towards Stafford. To put this into somewhat of a perspecve, during the last 10 years we have provided approximately 100 tonnes of food to individuals, families and children in desperate need of help, as well as funding Christmas meals. fesve meat packs and other iniaves during the year to ensure we help everyone as best we can.
We thank you wholeheartedly for taking the me to read our story.
