Uttoxeter Racecard - Friday 20th December

Page 1

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY and welcome to our Christmas Party Raceday. Thank you to our sponsors today; Creation Office, Richard Winterton Auctioneers, APB, Willis Cooper Chartered Accountants, Pat & Helen Tandy and QuinnBet.

Today we have got 7 cracking races with good entries lined up for you. The track is holding up well after our drainage works through the summer which has proven to have done the job!

We have some great entertainment lined up for you as well as the racing.

On your way in you should have already seen the big man himself!! Santa is here today helping out Uttoxeter Rotary Club who will be collecting on behalf of some local charities

Snooker legend Dennis Taylor will be with us roaming around for a meet and greet with the public With a career at the top spanning 28 years, Dennis is arguably one of the best ever snooker players Dennis won the iconic 1985 World Snooker Championship against Steve Davis when he won the last frame on the black ball shoot out to win 18-17.

After racing, be sure to head to the Premier Bar where we have a DJ playing some Christmas bangers for an hour after the last race.

Can I take this opportunity to wish all of our customers a very happy Christmas and I would like also to thank you for your support throughout the year I do hope you have a great day today but please can I ask all racegoers to enjoy themselves responsibly We do appreciate it is party season and we do understand that people are here to enjoy their day but please respect other racegoers and also our staff, who are here to try and ensure you have a great but safe experience If you do have any concerns please feel free to highlight this to one of our friendly stewards or one of the security team.

Our next fixture is on New Years Eve. We only have a handful of tickets left and it is sure to be sold out soon

If you are not joining us on New Years Eve then I wish you all the best for Christmas and the New Year and look forward to you joining us again in 2025.

Good luck today!

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

ëëëëë Selected to win the race

ëëëëê Good chance of being placed

ëëëêê By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.

ëëêêê Unlikely to win but not totally without hope

ëêêêê Can be given little or no chance

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions

A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances) The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non handicap races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet

If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

LEADING COURSE TRAINER (19-24): O Murphy (51 wins from 223 runners, 23%) runs HENRYSBROTHERJACK TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): O Murphy (11 wins from 48 runners, 23%) runs HENRYSBROTHERJACK LONGEST TRAVELLER: FAME AND FUN trained by P & M Bowen, Haverfordwest, 235 miles.

In what looks a modest handicap hurdle, it will be interesting to see if there is a springer in the market. A solid case can be made for REHILL RELIC who confirmed the promise of his novice hurdle efforts when placed at Doncaster three weeks ago and a repeat performance will see him in the mix here. Palawan du Mazet is another who has a respectable recent run to his name while Joker de Thaix, returning from a short break, represents a yard that is more than capable of readying one.
