WELCOME Dear All, As we reach the last week in April, I am delighted to welcome you to the first Monday evening fixture of 2022 at Royal Windsor Racecourse, an established feature of the national horse racing calendar and a perfect way for you to start the week with your family and friends. This evening is Royal Windsor’s one and only free racing event of the season for those who managed to redeemed tickets online. Today’s racing fixture also operates under one enclosure enabling those attending to make use of the facilities from across the site. Last year our first evening fixture resulted in a dramatic conclusion to the feature mile-and-a-quarter handicap, with the first two placings being reversed following a photo-finish and stewards’ inquiry. There was also a notable double for jockey David Probert, who has been present at both of our afternoon meetings this season, and who is one of several regular riders at Windsor who could be significant contenders in the race to become this year’s champion jockey. Next Monday is a Bank Holiday, and we are excited to announce the return of our popular Family Fun Day afternoon, with Funfair and Pony rides, facepainting and inflatables as well as some competitive action on the track. It’s an ideal opportunity to introduce new racegoers, including the younger ones, to the thrilling sport of horse racing, with a number of special packages available for family group, including a stylish arrival at the racecourse by river boat from Windsor Town Centre. In addition, we can provide you with a delicious three-course meal in the 1866 Restaurant, with its panoramic view of the track; or invite you to be part of the brand-new Riverbank Barbeque Experience near the parade ring. Looking further ahead, two of the highlights at Royal Windsor Racecourse this year will be the visits of musical superstars Madness and Ronan Keating in August. You can keep up to date with all the news, and make plans for future visits, via our website, www.windsor-racecourse.co.uk. My team and I thank you for coming tonight and look forward to seeing you again next Monday afternoon. As ever, if you’d like to contact either myself or the Windsor Racecourse team then please feel free to info@royal-windsor.co.uk . Best Wishes, Liam Johnson Executive Director

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

ABBREVIATIONS BF - Beaten Favourite C - Course winner D - Distance winner CD - Course & Distance winner

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

JUSTCALLMEPETE boasts a good sprinting pedigree and raised his game considerably when making a successful handicap debut at Southwell last month, winning with more in hand than the margin of victory suggests. He remains open to improvement and should cope with this 6lb higher mark. KOOL MOE DEE could be the answer with his recent reappearance at Musselburgh under his belt, and with this drop in class and faster ground both positives. SPRING GLOW signed off her 2021 campaign with back-to-back victories at Kempton and it’s entirely possible that she will kick on again this season. Andrew Balding’s charge is taken to make a successful reappearance, perhaps at the chief expense of Hyanna, who drew a blank last year but has been given a helping hand by the assessor and is of interest now eased to 0-85 company. Stablemate Noble Masquerade and Croeso Cymraeg are others to consider.
