WELCOME Afternoon All, As the weather turns warmer, our summer Monday Night racing programme returns and for the next four months we will be offering you a wide range of entertainment, both on and off the track, with a variety of themes to suit every taste. Irish Race Night on 13 June and Ladies Evening on 20 June are two of the most popular events in our annual calendar, and the following month we have 90’s Revival Race Night on 11 July, Rum n Reggae Racenight on 18 July and Rock at the Races on 25 July. In addition to the regular Monday evening dates, we are also staging our well-established three-day Festival, which starts with Gentleman’s Day on the afternoon of Saturday 25 June; and our second Family Fun Day of the year on Sunday 7 August. Today’s card features our most valuable race of the season so far, the Racing Welfare Royal Windsor Stakes, with £24,000 in prize money to the winning connections. Leading jockeys William Buick (Modern News) and David Probert (Bell Rock), both regular visitors to Windsor, are likely to be two of the main contenders. There are also strong entries for the Fitzdares Sprint Series Fillies’ Handicap (an early qualifier for the final in August) and the EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes, which may produce a serious contender for one of the prestigious two-year-old races at Royal Ascot next month. I do hope you have an enjoyable evening at Royal Windsor Racecourse and that you will be able to join us again throughout the summer months. You can find further information and booking details on our website, windsor-racecourse.co.uk

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

ABBREVIATIONS BF - Beaten Favourite C - Course winner D - Distance winner CD - Course & Distance winner

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
