WELCOME Ladies Night at Royal Windsor is always a classic occasion, forming a quintessential part of the Monday evening racing season. Along with all the thrilling action and tasty street food that you’ve come to expect, there’s a distinctive fashion theme and, this year, live entertainment after racing with a ‘pick n mix’ 80s classics DJ set from Martin Kemp. On the track, the Fitzdares Sprint Final is less than two months away now, and tonight we stage another qualifier in this exciting series of races. Last week’s heat resulted in a decisive win for the David Eganridden Lequinto, whose trainer Tony Carroll could return to contest the big prize in August. As usual on a Monday evening, the bookmaker Fitzdares is supporting several races on the card, and we are grateful for the continued support of our summer programme by the Fitzdares team. Many of the company’s staff are regular visitors to Royal Windsor Racecourse and you will see them presenting the prizes to the winning owners after their races. This evening the fashion will be as important as the racing, with stylish outfits and headwear helping to create a colourful scene. Thousands of racegoers will be hoping to to impress the judges of the popular Style Awards, because the winning outfit will land one lucky racegoer a £500 cash prize! Next weekend we begin our popular annual three-day festival, starting with Gentleman’s Day on the afternoon of Saturday 25 June, with Sigala providing musical entertainment after racing. Summer Sounds on the Sunday afternoon and the Monday evening Prosecco Party will continue the music theme during the following two days. Full information can be found on our website, windsor-racecourse. co.uk along with ideas for meal packages and special deals for early bookings. In the meantime I do hope you enjoy the unique atmosphere of Ladies Night at one of our most popular fixtures of the year. Best Wishes, Liam Johnson Executive Director

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
ABBREVIATIONS BF - Beaten Favourite C - Course winner D - Distance winner CD - Course & Distance winner
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

WOODLANDS CHARM has been running well this season and can make it 2 wins from her last 3 starts. The filly has finished in the first 3 in her trio of runs since her reappearance, winning at Ripon in May, so she looks set to give another good account dropped back down in grade. LEADING COURSE TRAINER (17-22): A Balding (28 wins from 152 runners, 18%) runs AFTER EIGHT TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): A Balding (7 wins from 65 runners, 11%) runs AFTER EIGHT LONGEST TRAVELLER: COWBOY trained by W Kittow, Cullompton, 149 miles. RACE SUMMARY
AFTER EIGHT looked unlucky not to win at Lingfield in March but he could be able to gain compensation here. The Andrew Balding-trained colt ran on late to finish third last time having been denied a clear run over 1f out, so he can make his second start in a handicap a winning one. Cliffs of Fury has been going the right way and is feared most, while Victory could resume his progress upped further in trip. 1-2-3: 1.AFTER EIGHT (IRE) 2.CLIFFS OF FURY 3.VICTORY (IRE) Breeding

Several promising types in the line-up, none more so than LAYAKEL who shaped very well amidst greenness on his debut at Nottingham last month. He is open to considerable progress and looks another good prospect for the William Haggas yard. Bling On The Music also caught the eye when runner-up last time and can improve again, while Space Tracker was value for extra when making a winning start.
