Windsor Racecourse - Monday 27th June

Official Raceday Programme & Form Guide | £3.50

WELCOME As we reach the third and final day of this year’s three-day Festival at Royal Windsor Racecourse, we are delighted to stage the Prosecco Party Race Night, which is sure to have a bubbly atmosphere to match the fizz on the track! Once again on a Monday evening, we would like to welcome our regular race sponsors, the bookmaker Fitzdares, as we look forward to the latest qualifier in the Fitzdares Sprint Series. These well-contested races all lead to a grand final in August, so any of today’s runners could end up running in that race, and maybe even win the valuable prize. The other feature race tonight is the Fitzdares Handicap over a mile and a quarter. We recommend you check out the dedicated page in the racecard to see the leading trainers and jockeys during the season so far, because this extra information may help you find the winner of any of the races tonight. Unusually, as we take a short break after this weekend’s Festival, there’s no racing at Windsor next Monday. We return in a fortnight on 11 July with the 90s Revival Racenight, when once again there will be live music after racing, with Ultra ‘90s giving you a taste of the good times and performing the greatest hits of the decade. Raceday packages are available through our website www.windsor-racecourse.co.uk including meal deals and the chance to arrive in style on the river boat from Windsor Town Centre. You will also be able to read details about our race meetings later in the summer, including the Sports Family Fun Race Day on Sunday 7 August. For now, I do hope you enjoy all the sparkle that you would expect of our Prosecco Party and that we will see you back at Windsor Racecourse on Monday 11 July. Best Wishes, Liam Johnson Executive Director

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

ABBREVIATIONS BF - Beaten Favourite C - Course winner D - Distance winner CD - Course & Distance winner

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

This is likely to go to one of the 3-y-os, WITCH HUNTER or Sterling Knight. Choosing between them isn’t easy, but Witch Hunter has fewer miles on the clock and is appealing now pitched into a handicap having chased home the highly progressive El Caballo in a Listed event on the all-weather in March. Sterling Knight wasn’t disgraced at Royal Ascot recently when bidding for the hat-trick and is clear second choice ahead of Indian Creak.

JEWEL IN MY CROWN was only beaten a length when runner-up at Sandown recently and surely would’ve finished closer still but for encountering traffic problems at a crucial stage. She is taken to deservedly get her head back in front. Anythingtoday left the strong impression that his turn is again near when runner-up over C&D last time and he is feared most, while Silver Gunn and Splendent should both make their presence felt, too.
