WELCOME As we head into the second half of the summer season at Royal Windsor Racecourse, the current spell of warm sunny weather is perfect for a fun evening on the banks of the River Thames enjoying a combination of exciting horse racing and live music. The leading jockey of the first three months at Windsor, William Buick, will be looking to maintain that advantage all the way until the end of the season. Many of his best rides here have been for the Charlie Appleby (Godolphin) stable, but it has often been worth following William’s bookings for other trainers as he bids to become national champion jockey for the first time. Tonight’s feature race is another qualifier in the Fitzdares Sprint Series, leading to a valuable final which is now only a month away. Any of today’s runners could make it through to contest the big-money prize, so it’s sure to be another thrilling race with another close finish expected. The party doesn’t stop when the racing ends, though. Head to the lawn where you can enjoy music from Ultra ‘90s, bringing you a taste of the good times and performing the greatest hits of the decade. The bars and food kiosks will remain open during the concert. We have a varied range of themed evenings to entertain you during the rest of the summer, including Rum n Reggae Racenight next Monday and Rock at the Races on 25 July, both featuring live music after the final race. Full information is available on our website, www.windsorracecourse.co.uk, where you can choose from a number of tasty food packages and even arrange a stylish arrival at the racecourse by river boat from Windsor Town Centre - an experience not to be missed. We look forward to seeing you again soon at the home of Monday Night racing. Best wishes Liam Johnson Executive Director

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
ABBREVIATIONS BF - Beaten Favourite C - Course winner D - Distance winner CD - Course & Distance winner
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

This looks ripe for SCARLET DRAGON, who posted his best effort for a while without the usual headgear when fourth at Newbury last month, looking as though he may emerge on top until his effort petered out in the closing stages. Dropping back in trip here looks a good move and he remains on a very appealing mark. There’s a chance that this will develop into a tactical affair, a scenario that would count against Tiger Bettle, and it could be that Eton Blue and Carp Kid will fill the places.
