WELCOME As we head towards the end of July, and last week’s soaring temperatures have relented, we are delighted to welcome you to the excitement of Rock at the Races, featuring a live concert after racing from the brilliant Queen tribute band, Flash. The musical entertainment will take place on the lawn, which has become the favoured place for many of you to base yourselves during the evening. From here, you can also see the horses parading for their races and enjoy a varied range of international street food and refreshing summer drinks. Today’s most valuable race is the Free Tips Daily On attheraces. com Handicap, around one lap of Windsor’s figure-of-eight circuit. The Monday night action regularly features some of the country’s top jockeys including William Buick, the current leader in the 2022 jockeys’ champtionship. Next Monday we stage the Vegas Race Night with a fun “casino” where you can try your hand at roulette or blackjack. There’s no real money involved, so you won’t go home empty-handed! After racing you can stay and enjoy the award-winning Elvis act, JD King. The following Sunday, 7 August, we stage our second Family Fun Day of the year, with plenty of off-track entertainment for our younger racegoers. It’s the perfect opportunity to introduce some new names to the delights of Royal Windsor Racecourse. Further information is available on our website, windsor-racecourse.co.uk, along with booking details and suggested meal packages, including the option of a delicious three-course meal with a panoramic view of the action in the 1866 Restaurant. I do hope you enjoy your time at the races tonight and that you’ll be able to join us again soon. Best Wishes, Liam Johnson Executive Director

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
ABBREVIATIONS BF - Beaten Favourite C - Course winner D - Distance winner CD - Course & Distance winner
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: RAYONG trained by K R Burke, Leyburn, 243 miles. RACE SUMMARY
This looks very competitive, despite the small field. AIRSHOW has been given a short break since narrowly outpointing Glamorous Breeze at Bath and meets that rival on slightly better terms here. The 7-y-o is taken to follow up, perhaps again at the chief expense of the Christopher Mason-trained filly. Spring Bloom is feared despite going up 6lb for his recent C&D success and he is third choice.

RACE SUMMARY
PUB CRAWL benefited from the step up to this trip when second at Newmarket recently and he could be the answer, in receipt of upwards of 10lb from each of his four rivals. Special Envoy is bound to be a warm order now pitched into a handicap, given his connections and pedigree, but he’s probably not one to lump on at short odds having looked somewhat ill at ease on fast ground, which is forecast here, at Newbury last time. Bad Company will be a threat if allowed his own way in front.
