WELCOME As we enter the month of August, we are delighted to bring you the long-awaited final of the Fitzdares Sprint Series at 6.25 this evening, with a prize of nearly £40,000 to the winning connections. Today’s runners have been competing to reach the last 16 in qualifying races all season, so this is big day for those who have made it through. The feature race is backed up by four more Fitzdares-sponsored races and we would like to thank them for their valued support during the 2022 season. Appropriately, today’s sprint finale coincides with Vegas Night at Royal Windsor, with the outstanding Elvis act JD King appearing on the paddock lawn immediately after the last race. The leading rider of the season at Windsor continues to be William Buick, who will be looking to build on a successful week at Goodwood as he aims to become champion jockey for the first time. As usual, many of the top 10 in the championship are here to enhance their own claims to the title. Next weekend we are racing on Sunday afternoon, with our second Family Fun Day of the season. It’s a perfect opportunity to introduce some new friends and family members to the exciting sport of horse racing, and throughout the day there will also be inflatables, pony rides and facepainters to keep the younger ones entertained. A week today we bring you a new racenight theme for 2022: Soul and Motown Night, with the ever-popular Craig Charles fronting a classic DJ set thanks to some iconic tunes as the sun goes down. Feel free to make the most of the 60s and 70s theme and dress for the occasion as you hit the dance floor after the final race! Further information is available on our website windsor-racecourse. co.uk along with booking facilities and a wide range of meal options. We hope you have an enjoyable time at the racecourse this evening and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best Wishes, Liam Johnson Executive Director

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

ABBREVIATIONS BF - Beaten Favourite C - Course winner D - Distance winner CD - Course & Distance winner

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

A very tricky contest, with last month’s Brighton winner VANDAD the narrow selection to follow up here. Michael Attwater’s gelding is still 10lb lower than his mark at the beginning of the year so looks well treated if continuing in form. SPRINT SERIES

FINAL HANDICAP STAKES

Fitzdares Sprint Series Final The Fitzdares Sprint Series Final reaches its conclusion this evening with a full field of 16 speedsters lining up to contest the £75,000 prize money on offer, including nearly £40,000 to the connections of the winner. The nine qualifying races have been taking place on Monday evenings throughout the summer. In the first, on 9 May, Aramis Grey travelled well before getting home by a neck, and she is one of those who will be battling for ultimate victory tonight. The next heat winner taking his chance today is Get It, who won comfortably by more than two lengths three weeks later. The following month, Isle of Lismore landed his race by a hard-fought half a length on 6 June after being hampered at the start; the gallant runnerup Colombe takes him on again tonight. The following week, Lequinto found his way into the winner’s enclosure for trainer Tony Carroll by more than a length despite edging to the left in the final furlong. Indian Creek drew clear to score easily in the 27 June qualifier and trainer Mick Channon has booked the

three-times champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa to ride again this evening. And, in the final heat (on 11 July), Lequinto completed a second win in the 2022 series, again showing a tendency to edge left and only scraping home by a short head on that occasion. The other horses running today have made it to the final through their performances behind the heat winners, but with sprint handicaps being among the most competitive in the annual Royal Windsor race programme, they too will have every chance of taking the big prize when the stalls open at 6.25. The Fitzdares Sprint Series has been a particular highlight of Monday evenings at Windsor, and the culmination of the nine individual qualifiers promises to provide all of us with something of a challenge as we now attempt to find the winner. On this notable occasion, we would like to to thank Fitzdares for their generous support; not only of these races, but many others, during the course of the 2022 season.

RACE SUMMARY A typically competitve renewal with preference for LEQUINTO to make it a C&D hat-trick. The 5-y-o has thrived dropped back to 6f here on his last 2 starts, so he can continue his progress to land the final of this year’s sprint series. There are plenty of dangers though, with the 3-y-o Sterling Knight feared most, ahead of Lipsink who has dropped to a dangerous mark. 1-2-3: 1.LEQUINTO (IRE) 2.STERLING KNIGHT 3.LIPSINK (IRE) KEY Owner colours
